That's a bit dramatic, a mild spat that lasted about a month. It's hardly like he took a dump in Giles Clark's desk drawer. The players that embarked on the South African rebel tours were far more mercenary in their actions. It's a nothing event, and for one I hope he returns to England ODI colours.

Dramatic? He retired/quit whatever you want to call it. England have since demolished Australia and look good in the ODI format. I'd personally leave him well alone, obviously not enjoying playing at Surrey outgrounds in cold July temperatures.

The timing of his decision was very poor. I wouldn't bother recalling him.

Enjoying it enough to get 200+ ;-)

I suppose we won't have long to find out, anyway the small matter of a potentially cracking test series to enjoy first.

He's a class cricketer but I very much doubt he wakes up on a morning thrilled at the prospect of playing against Lancs at Guildford, whilst his former ODI teamates are bashing Australia all over.

If he's brought back will it not send the message to other players that if you fancy a rest all you have to do is 'retire' then change your mind

Left out of the 30. I'd like to see him back but there's no way I'd allow him to miss England games to play in the IPL.

However, I'd question why England have an early series, I bet you anything Taylor, Mcullum and probably a couple of others will either fly direct from the IPL or miss the tour for the IPL. If the nation we are going to play isn't going to send a full strength team, why are we bothering? (I like test cricket and want it to continue and thrive).

And also, how the hell is Gareth Batty in the 30?? Well done to Onions, Borthwick and Stokes.
