Chance for Finn or Onions.
Think Finn is more likely with his extra pace.

Still sounds like they might rest Broad.
I don't understand resting Anderson from this test match when he doesn't play in the T20's and often misses ODI's.
The series is won, he hasn't missed a test in 2 years and will benefit from this later in the summer
This.
If Strauss can miss a tour to Bangladesh, Anderson can miss 1 dead rubber test.
I get the bit about him being rested, my point is that he's usually rested in one day cricket so why rest him from this test?
Wise Man Says said:I'm a bit torn on this, I must admit. His rest will give him a chance to rest up before SA, it's only a dead rubber test and it will give someone else an opportunity but with the lack of county cricket England players play these days, there must surely be a danger Anderson will be undercooked come the first SA test.
Maybe, he's carrying a niggle, who knows?
I would rest both broad and Anderson
Adds to competition, and fast bowling is a tough old game
Agree with this, I'd also rest them from the pyjama games as well, let them get a few first class (4 day games) under their belts to keep their eyes in without the distraction of the white ball games so that they're fresh and raring to go when the important stuff against South Africa comes round. To be honest, I couldn't give a fuck if we get steamrollered by the Windies and Australia in the ODIs as long as we win the South Africa test series. I'd also go with Finn for Anderson, and Onions if we also rest Broad. They could both use another test under their belts.
I'm not sure both Finn and Broad will play as they are similar bowlers. We need a genuine swing bowler in the team, and since it's not gonna be Anderson it should be Onions.

Resting Anderson was an obvious move. Test cricket is very tough on quicks and he hasnt had a break from it for a good while. There is also no risk as he isnt the type of bowler who needs continuous play to get in the groove so to speak. It will be good to have the leader of our attack fresh and raring to go.
You have a point but Finn is nailed on to start. I doubt the selectors will be thinking too much about the variation of attack as they know whatever they put out will be too strong for the WIndies.
I have literally zero interest in ODI's but its still better to be winning regardless of the version of the game.
Not really sure why the press are getting in a tis over this one at all. Hope Onions gets the nod, but think it will be Finn.
