3-10 off 8 overs, always impressive figures, very impressive fitness, he has played every game for them. chuffed for him. gutted for us

He was excellent on cricket captain because he is a good bowler just kept getting injuries here played only 90 games in 10 years

Davies was far too comfortable at durham, as a lot of the experienced players are. durham were right to let him go because I have no doubt that he would have been "injured" this year if he had stayed.

Hard to argue with the injured situation, that said we'd kill for a fit Davies bowling for us right now.

Onions is the only reliable bowler that we have. Harmison is finished and Harrison is very young and raw and one for the future.

My opinion is that we have held onto some of our players for too long and since 2009 nothing much has changed other than players departing. there has been no new blood into the CC team ie an overseas player since Chanderpaul left.

i fear for what sort of dressing room gibbs might walk into when he arrives for the t20.

I'm starting to become quite predictable because I'm agreeing so much with you Colonel . You're bang on, again. We'll likely lose Onions this week for Warwickshire. Harmison is finished, Harrison is a real prospect and needs to be nurtured.

the positive to take out of this situation is that its now clear that a 3 year plan needs to be put in place to transform the team making sure that our young home grown players have a place to play their cricket and the top wage earners who have served the club well, but their time is up, need to be replaced.

I'd like to think that in 3 years time we have a young, hungry, talented and mainly local side that is bolstered and led by two or three wise old heads.

Its depressing at the minute but if the board take the right action now and have a clear plan then we may come out of this situation well.

for all the debate on this thread it seems odd that so much focus is on the bowling attack, we are still bowling well despite all the troubles it is far and away more pressing to put some runs on the board. the fact we could be 102 all out first innings and still nearly win ...

stokes is literally the only bat who looks like a decent one for the future.

richardson, jennings [although apparently he cant play this year for contractural reasons?], raine, wood can hopefully fill the gaps.

jennings, smith, raine/rocky, stokes, richardson, wood, mustard, borthwick etc

all young enough to be playing for the next 5 years or so and beyond. time to start giving the experience out to these lads, i think we will see a fair amount of them in the t20

I can see your point, thing is, we've been so heavily reliant on Onions. Harrison has been decent last two games and looks promising, apart from that though I don't think any bowler can expect a place in the side at the minute :-|

agreed, although you could just as easily argue that is due to having so many good options - claydon has bowled well this year, thorp is always a threat with the new ball, brathwaite should get more chances soon due to his very succesful spell last year, rushworth is steady enough, harmison & plunkett have bags of potential in their lockers if only we could prise it out of them etc etc

Claydon has been very expensive in the CC and Thorp is having a very tough time of it in honesty. Brathwaite is long overdue a chance IMO however and I won't give up on Plunkett just yet. I don't really rate Rushworth as good enough for CCD1 but in fairness the way things are I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a chance shortly.

Harmison though is finished.

true, but runs/wicket is far more important than economy and claydon has the third highest or rather lowest average behind onions and harrison.
