absolutely overjoyed the windies have made a game out of this. was in real danger of being an embarrassment but theyve battled back and could still win this.

This. I found myself wanting them to get the South African out at the end there.

Definitely, this is what cricket is all about. Should be a cracking final day tomorrow, all we need is one big innings from one of our lads and we'll win this. KP's annual century tomorrow?

Windies have improved, just wonder if Sarwan, Gayle, Pollard & Nash were playing they would be a much better side. Credit to the work Ottis Gibson is doing
Be surprised if we didnt win as only need one batsman to get a 70 really

WIndies have the nucleus of a half decent side, which can only be a good thing for the the game. However, they are still way behind the likes of England and will be polished off fairly easily tomorrow.

Tough day for England the morra

Doubt it. Only one good partnership from victory.

KP's annual century tomorrow?

I think he will go big against the Saffers this Summer.

I thought Strauss's dismissal was a poor shot tbh

He had one hand on the bat (and it was a straight bat at that) which edged to the slips like it was some sort of practice session for them. The ball was above his hips!?! he should be hooking that sort of ball for 4 not "showing the bowler the makers name"

Roach bowled the same ball a lot at him and he did the same thing so no wonder he got out.

Left handed batsmen playing a straight bat seems crazy when they could could hook it all day long if they judge the height correctly i.e. about waist height on a very consistent pitch. It's been nothing but consistent this pitch, no surprises at all. Just seems a daft tactic to me from Strauss.

Tucked him up to a point I dont think it was there to be hooked and didnt it come off the shoulder of the bat? Not saying he couldnt have done better but I think it was more difficult than you are suggesting.

bit much expecting him to hook the ball for 4 when he has been at the crease all of 2 minutes and looking to see out the day. if he had edged it and got caught out people would be crying about one day madness and not needing to play the risky shot.

he didnt need to try and defend when the ball was that high, he should really have dropped the bat & gloves and been hit by the ball but then the bounce surprised him. sometimes that happens early in an innings you move on.

might not have got out to that ball if it had been a couple of overs later.

still, as i said earlier, it does make for far more interesting cricket

Said it before and I will say it again, but I just wish KP would fuck off and play 20/20 worldwide and not play for the England test side again.

crazy how many people want KP to fail.

did the public always hate their heroes or is it a modern thing?

Don't WANT him to fail, just he does it to regularly for England, just wish he would fuck off to play 20/20 worldwide and make his fortune that way.

And each time you say it you sound more mental.

Does he fail more than other batsmen in the test side?.

Indeed. People are happy when he plays his shots and they go for runs. Many expect far too much of him compared to others. If he did fuck off we'd be a much worse side for it.

if people didnt agree with him being in the team because he is south african i would see there point and agree tbh.

but when people knock KP whilst lauding trott, despite the fact that he was mouthing off after a south african victory over england only a year or two before he crept into the team, i just cannot listen to it.

plenty of idiots out there sadly, you expect it in football but i like to think cricket is above all that.

it's not

I dont even buy into the whole Saffers craic as many players around the world have played for countries which arent their birth place. Dont people also question the likes of Strauss? If you qualify, you are in, and thats that.

The fact of the matter is KP is a very good cricketer and we do not have anyone who could step in to fil his shoes.

bit different, strauss moved to england aged 6, pietersen was 19 or there abouts iirc.

i can understand the nationality argument. morgan had represented ireland before switching to us. who was it who played for them, then us then back to them again, ed joyce was it?

espefcially at a time when strauss, trott, kp, morgan, prior in our top 6/7 were not 100% english i can see the argument and it makes a hell of alot more sense than he's not good enough

Trott is a joke though IMO, was cheering for the Saffas against us a year before his debut. Took the place of a lad who had wanted to play for England his whole life.
