Because the ball was crossed to Davies and not to Gordon I would assume.

If I accept that it was put on his head (which it wasn't btw as Davies had to move), it rather blows AC Mack's argument out of the water. How come Davies knew where the ball was going to go and Gordon didn't?
As for hindsight, it's Criagy boys job to read crosses and make the right decision. He regularly misreads crosses and cause us no end of problems.

If Gordon tried to catch it in the same place Davies headed it what would have happened to the players. They would still have been there and he would have ran into them. Simple as that. He can't take that position in the box before the players get there because how is he supposed to know that is where the ball is going?

That error a the end when Davies (?) was through 1-1 and Gordon blocked it - Mignolet would have been nowhere near it, still coming out from his line.

Today we had no flapping, no punching - unfortunately a couple of goals in a 'quite close to the keeper' style that reminded me of Mignolet, but a confidence when the ball went in high and, most tellingly -more passbacks than we have seen in any other three games - players clearly have more confidence in his kicking and distribution.
 
Tartan, not sure what that has to do with it. Of course the cross was meant for Davies but it doesn't preclude Gordon from dealing with it. The ball was there to be dealt with. Davies is a huge threat. Gordon bollocked it up. Again.

Did you also slate mig for Thierry Henry's goal which was similar? I bet you f***ing anything you didn't. You would have kept your piehole shut, Mignolet is no better on crosses.

I blamed the defence rather than the keeper that day as well, you would have been on here scathing if it was Gordon in goal. Agenda ridden idiot

Err, he would have flattened the players with his 6 .4 ft frame and the ball would have been cleared and we wouldn't have conceded a soft goal.
Pelanty spot to six yard box....v dodgy area for a keeper unless it's a floaty ball. whipped in cross to edge of six yard box. Deal with it.

The trajectory and aim of the ball was intentionally favourable to Davies over Craig Gordon.

Coming out of the ground there was loads of people commenting on how well Gordon had played, radio phone in much the same, O'Neill and Turner interviewed much the same, Owen Coyle also made time to say how well Sunderland's keeper had played.

But sure as eggs is eggs theres good old Ernie with his 'alternative view' :lol:
 
No I didn't criticise Mig because no one comes on here and tries to tell me he is world class keeper who doesn't make mistakes....
