ah the anti-gordon mongoloids have arrived, excellent. now all we need are the bardo out crew and we can start our special needs party.

Ok clever arse...

Watch Given or Hart...

They are exactly the same...:-)

watched quite a bit of Given, Simon Smith was his coach and I think is now England Youth Keeper coach.

Given picks his moments, many times you will find Given "rooted" to his line and pull of fantastic saves, because he has that extra Second to see the flight of the ball.

I will concede that when Given comes for the ball he tends to deal with it better than Gordon, But I would also add I think Given at his best is Better than Gordon at his best.

Just wish Given could have stayed at Sunderland.

Apart from coming out for crosses. Obviously.

agreed, but this is the least crucial part of goalkeeping.

i just cannot see a way we can keep him, unless he is prepared to sign on for much less and mig is happy to go back to being an understudy..

I was surprised he started today, i thought he'd definitely be gone. Doesn't bode well for Westwood.

A good 'Directly in front of you shot stopper' but positionally useless, scared shitless of crosses and can't kick a ball up field for toffee. No need for a tin hat, if we could get a fee, which we can't of course, he'd be worth less than half we've paid.

For the dissenters, I'd like to hear arguments for incoming crosses (against his static positioning), his positional ability with regards to set pieces and central play as well as any defence that can be given for some of the worst kicking (Minger aside) in the league.

So there

Unbelievable. Gordon's positioning is first class, especially in open play. He often makes saves look routine and makes blocks with his body, because he's in the right place. His kicking off the floor is more than adequate and significantly better than Migs.

Communication is a weakness IMO, he does seem very quiet for a top keeper.

Ah, how I missed the Gordon threads.
He cannot get one ounce of blame for the first and I don't blame him for the second either. Defence should have cleared that. Staying on the line is the modern keepers way frankly.

I thought he did pretty well today.

I don't think anyone would disagree mate, he was a top class goalkeeper. His strength isn't in the air and he maximises the rest of his game superbly. For the poster to say he claims everything is utter bollocks.

I wouldn't be afraid of upsetting Mignolet, he's nothing special compared to the other goalies in this league.

Met the lad only once but he did come across as quite shy.

Name me a goalkeeper in the PL, who is commanding, comes out and claims corners, while also pulling off shot stopping reactions?

im not his numebr 1 fan, i just don't have agenda's against certain players and give a unbiased view.

Shields_supporter

im still waiting for this anarl

I have no idea where this myth that keepers are supposed to dominate the air and collect every high ball. It seems to have arisen after Gordon arrived. There's not a single keeper in the league that does it. Not one.

Yes, but he did cost £7/8/9 million you know, and todays appearence cost us another £1/2/3 million. You expect Banks like performances for that.

A wind-up surely.
