Lads and lasses, we will be bringing you online commentary once again this season of Durham's matches in the County Championship and T20.

You can join me for the first of these from next Thursday morning for the home game with Notts.

I will commentate on all of the home games in the two competitions - via the BBC cricket counties pages on the web and the BBC Newcastle website.

Hopefully our sister stations will be able to pick up much of the slack for the away games. Surrey and Middlesex - both promoted teams - have full commentary this season.

From what I can gather there will also be commentary of Sussex, Notts, Warwickshire and Worcestershire matches.

There's also commentary offered by the members at Somerset - it's a volunteer effort - and not what you would expect from the BBC! But it means virtually every championship game is covered.

I will also do the home matches in the T20, with sister stations covering the away stages until the knock-out section. BBC Notts' coverage of the T20 last season was particularly impressive!

Just like last year we won't be covering the Pro40 until the knock-out stages - if Durham make it through the group.

Times are very tough for the BBC and we are facing major cuts to our budgets and staff losses. We are not sure how much longer we will be able to continue covering the cricket like this so enjoy it while you can and tell your mates to tune in too!

You can listen online via the BBC website or using such devices as Tune In Radio on your smartphone. It is free to download and very easy to use and proved very popualr last season. One of our regular listeners used to tune in using the app while fly-fishing in Scotland.

Follow me on Twitter @Martycricket for updates on coverage, online links, team news etc. All of my postmatch interviews will be on Audioboo again this season as well - which is a free service online. And there's Facebook too.

Remember for those of you who can't tune in online, we will have our usual hourly updates in news and sports bulletins on BBC Newcastle - home and away - with Tim Wellock once again covering the away games.

Thanks for the support so far. Martin Emmerson, BBC Newcastle cricket commentator.

Imagine how mental Henry Blofeld will be by then :-)

Nice one btw Marty. I hope that going forward BBC at least keep the T20 stuff on. I enjoy it when I can manage to find it on TuneIn Radio.
