"My approach to cricket has been reasonably simple: it was about giving everything to the team, it was about playing with dignity and it was about upholding the spirit of the game. I hope I have done some of that. I have failed at times, but I have never stopped trying. It is why I leave with sadness but also with pride"

Seems a very fair self assessment.

Don't think you'll find many people will disagree, just think you were being a little harsh on Dravid

This, even though he was a mainly defensive batsmen, some of the shots he used to lay were jut perfect.

Dravid's record was better than both of the Waugh brothers, he's the bet batsman I'VE seen behind tendulakar followed by kallis

Technique is such a broad term. People often say a player has a great technique based on how clasy they look when scoring runs but thats only a small part of it

I wouldnt say the likes of Laxman for example had a better technique than someone like Dravid. He times the ball beautifully but his technique against the short ball or moving ball is far inferior to Dravid. Technique in defence is huge and there a few better than Dravid in this area.
