Well.....there's auto and there's auto!

I went up Waskerley yesterday and took a load of shots with my EOS30D, Hitech Graduated Neutral Density Filters and Sigma 18-200mm lens. Some of the shots, the camera was set to auto. Is it fair for my shots to be judged alongside pics that have been taken with a phone or Powershot?

I did wonder about use of filters but would presume that in the spirit of this months theme they are not allowed. Surely it's about spotting a good picture / composition, rather than creating one, which it could be argued you do when using filters...

Nope, not fair. However, I do base this on the assumption that your photos will be far better than mine, regardless of the equipment used.

If you can use post production, you might as well be able to use filters.

I cant view exif data on tinterweb,I get active x errors "Active X component cant create object", tried Iexif and Kuso exif viewer - any ideas anyone?

Not sure how using filters is any more against the rules than adjusting the focal length on your zoom lens or post processing in tattyshop. But by all means remove my entry if you think it is not in the spirit of the competition.

Nice pic, lovely clarity in the foreground, how do you rate that sigma 18-200?

does it remain sharp through its range?

Not great over ~100mm, but the shorter focal lengths are very nice. Considering the price tag and the ambitious 11x zoom range, I think they've done good. Certainly a step up from the Canon 18-55 kit lens, which is what I replaced with it.

Just got mine in, Thought the sheep looked funny watching me through the gate. When I took the pic the auto flash popped up and the result had me laughing, bloody weird eyes like!
