Reports emerging on Twitter that all 3 will face jail time!

Majeed gets 2 years 8 months. Butt gets 2 years 6 months. Asif gets 1 year, helped by his guilty plea which "took courage" according to the judge. Amir gets 6 months.

All 3 will be released on licence half way through their sentences if they behave.

Butt gets 2 year 8 month, as ringleader and corrupter of Amir.

Asif gets 1 year.

Majeed the fixer gets 2 year 8 month.

Amir gets 6 month.

All will serve half of sentence with good behaviour.

Boom.

And the tax payer is now responsible for lads who over stepped a line on some grass. Im glad these villainous thugs are no longer at large. A huge sigh of relief for people across the nation

hang about a minute.

What is the difference between these lot and berni madoff

All were fraudently trying to make money.

The bans should have been 7 years each

Hark at Aberdeen Majeed there. It's a deterrent to stop it from happening again and ruining this game that has been played for 130 odd year.

Im all for throwing the book at them financially and with bans but a custodial sentence is madness in my opinion.

People's lives are ruined by criminals who don't face jail because prisons are apparently full. Are you saying they've found 3 spaces for cheats to protect the integrity of cricket?

I absolutely understand that and can see the reasons for doing it. But when you've a justice secretary banging on about custodial sentences and overcrowded prisons is it really necessary to jail these cheating foreign cricketers at the expense of the taxpayer?

It's amazing how they will throw the book at fraudsters but when it comes to hardened criminals (I'm talking about people who repeatedly plague the streets with anti social behaviour not murderers) they adopt a softer approach.

People pay good money for tickets
Sky subscriptions
Read books on the game
Buy newspapers and magazines for match reports
Buy cricket clothing and equipment

as well as the millions who discuss and generally enjoy the game.

This is all on the basis that the game is played fairly and the players give their best.

They should have had longer sentences and should go nowhere near the game of cricket ever again.

Agreed mate.

Massively over the top there. I play cricket myself. Has it affected my feelings of the game, would it stop me playing, would I not buy a newspaper, would I never go to another game, would it make me cancel sky? Absolutely not. Do people watch football on the basis it's fair when players are diving, when there are massive gaps in financial power between clubs? Matt le tissier admitted to spot betting a few years back by saying he'd bet on when the first throw in would be and would over hit a pass into touch from kick off. Similar kind of thing.

Are they cheats who have raised doubts about the integrity of the game. Yes. They should be banned from cricket in all aspects of the game. Should they be jailed at our expense? Absolutely not.

Is that really what you think it boils down to?

Serious fraud is always going to land you in prison.

There are severely violet offenders who don't get those sentences
I think there's racism in there somewhere, but not entirely sure :lol:

Well perhaps you need to come up with some hard facts to support this hypothesis. I think you will find "they" really do throw the book at the really 'violet' offenders.

They should have had longer sentences and should go nowhere near the game of cricket ever again.
Exactly. No sympathy for them, even Amir. If he ever prevents some other youngster who would never cheat like this from getting a chance to make a decent living out of the game it would be a disgrace.

I'd love to know where the racism was. I make a few slightly left week liberalish posts and somehow end up being racist. Superb. I'll try and dig a few facts out for you. Whilst I understand and respect the view why they are facing jail, I don't agree with it.

Got ya, violet

In the light of the jailing of three of its players, the Pakistan Cricket Board has announced it will hold a formal investigation into corruption in the game...

....after they have beaten Bangladesh 3-0 next spring.

Might have been a better joke if you'd picked any nation other than Bangladesh (or Zimbabwe).

Still shite like ;-)

I wonder if Dennis Lillee and Rod Marsh should go to prison for betting against their own team in 1981.

Actually, come to think of it, they do live in a prison. Life sentence.
