Because it's usually getting colder and wetter so fewer people will attend the relative cash cow of county cricket.

But a good idea. How difficult is it to prepare a variety of surfaces on one square? Can a groundsman not just mix it up a bit?

not sure what its like in the NE/NW but every September we get glorious weather down South
