Just watching the start of the Somerset match and it was like something you'd see at the SoL, some big advertising board, the teams lined up to shake hands, photographs of the captains...

Bloody hell, its cricket!! Umpires and fielding side out, then the batsmen. Why does it need to be americanised?

You could argue it's already been fannied up mate! Especially with the T20 being the forefront of the cricket calendar - mind just like with football you can probably blame Sky for the way its going.

They can do whatever they like with county cricket, they will never see the crowds increase much beyond what they are now due to the scheduling, and the T20 calender.

Thurs - Sun = LVCC
Monday = T20
Tuesday = Pro40.

Wednesdays for rest/travel.

Simply by having fewer games in the one day stuff, the above can be done.

But there'd be different teams in different divisions/groups so you won't be able to play 3 games in a row against the same team. And people won't want to spend 6 days away from home at a time (work/life and hotel expenses).

But I agree with the general idea.

Said it before, but I'd go back to knock-out one day games.

I'd love that. In fact I'd love them to set up some task force to revive interest in the 4-day game, just like the one that set up T20 in the first place. But until they do that, they aren;t going ot give over many weekends to a format that nobody goes to instead of to T20s where they can expect a canny crowd. Think of the number of burgers they have to sell!
