What happened with the bowlers? We seemed to go from 'younguns' to the LV attack half way through the season. Wheres Rushworth? What happened to Coetzer at the top of the order too? He scored a century and games later was dropped?

two wicket takers with more than 10 wickets is where the problems lie

Thats why Plunkett really does boil my piss. He is a wicket taker and probably should be selected in these games but his unwillingness to learn and inability at times to provide a bit of control makes it difficult for the selectors. Is he injured or out of favour?

"Surrey didn't play well last week because they knew they were already through and had the home tie"

What a patronising that f***ing Charles is

His commentary during that match was horrific. Everytime it looked like Surrey may be back into it he was getting all excited, then as soon as Durham took another wicket "oh well this game means nothing to Surrey anyway, picked the 2nd XI etc..."

id lose di venuto next year

wtf...

Last seen in Loveshack @ 3am most nights of every weekend pissing his career and potential as a good allrounder away. I appreciate hes allowed to let his hair down but he's even in there drinking when Durham are playing at home the day after...

Shouldn't laugh but he was clearly on a piss-up with the lads when I saw him last night (Fair enough given he wasn't in the squad today)

I've heard reports he's a bit of wanker but I must say I've always found him to be a decent lad, good with the fans but probably needs to grow up from a professional point of view. He was picked by England when he was 21 and he's gone backwards if anything since then. It's a great shame as he's a very natural athlete, with a wicket taking knack, a decent batting technique and is high class in the field. It certainly looks like in 20 years time he is going to end up with a lot of regrets about how he approached his career.

His twitter currently refers to him "living the dream". Which probably indicates he feels like king dick because

A. He shags a lot of random birds.
B. He gets paid decent money for doing nowt at all.

So he probably isnt worried about 20 years time or what DCCC fans think of him. It'd be great if we could ship him out during the winter in a swap deal for a decent top order batsman.

Durham will end up like Australia, we need to start phasing the senior players out gradually otherwise there will come a time when MDV, Blacky, Colly, Harmy, Benks will all go in the space of a year or so and we will be fucked

The likes of Smith and Stoneman need to start stepping up to the plate

I've noticed that myself like

I just think he's a bit of a lad, and England recognition and decent cash has made him think he's got it all when he really hasn't.

This season should serve as a huge wake-up call to him. With Harmy falling to bits, Bunny looking like getting back in the England side and Thorp not getting any younger, we should be looking at him being the spearhead of our attack next year, but he's looking as far away from that as I could have ever imagined.

if the desire and hunger isnt there to want it enough, there isnt much you can do

Pointless for a county side to be phasing out their best players too early when the county game is so financially tight and success can bring important gains to the club.

I know what you are saying, but we should be looking at getting deadwood off the wage bill first - the likes of Ben Harmison and possibly Muchall, before shifting on better players.

I have said for a while I think Benks will retire at the end of the season, Harmy will go at the end of next and thats why it was so important for Colly to sign a new contract. He's a great role model for young lads coming through and with him here full-time it will help ease the departure of Benks.

Absolutely, and if he's daft enough to not realise only being picked for 2 county games all season isn't a huge kick up the arse, he really is a lost cause.

Hell, the lad has even played T20 games as a fielder alone!, surely he must be wondering what the fuck is going on? It's whether he's man enough to realise he is the problem.

MDV averages 38 in the 4 day game this year

doesnt really play 20/20 or pro 40

thats a lot of dosh for one player who isnt exactly setting the world alight

id use his wages to sign and up and coming batsman like Taylor or some of the yorkshire lads when they get relegated

It's a fair point although I'm not sure why he's used so sparingly in the 40 over game at least.

I've no idea what he's earning but if we replaced him with a top class player like Taylor I'd be alright with it. The only problem there is that you can very rarely get an overseas player for the full duration of the season now, and there's not many better batsman on the circuit than Diva, and certainly none of them are at Yorkshire ;)

Fair one, i don't think Smith or Muchall ever will though so it's time to ship those out and hang onto the guys who are guaranteed to get us 1000 runs a season (even if it means our top 4 batsmen are an average age of 37...)

Didn't he quit one dayers after some spat with Smith. I'd play him in the one dayers. He was part of the FPT winning team and can score at a decent rate unlike the Muchalls, Smiths and B Harmisons.

He's played 2 Pro40 games this year and got 2 50s.

Muchall avgs 34 in county cricket and 65 in pro 40.

I cant criticise this year.

I wouldnt have him in 20/20 mind
