I'm not old enough to have seen him play (obviously) but my Granddad told me a great Trueman story from a match he was at. Fred bowled, the ball flew off the bat towards the slips, the fielder there missed it completely and it went through his legs for 4, he looked up sheepishly at Fred and says "Sorry Fred, I should have kept my legs shut", the response (predictably) "Not you, your mother".
Not sure of who was involved with that, but from what I've heard about Trueman, that sounds like a typical comment from him.
Been told by dad about an incident in pakistan with cheating umpires.
And basically bowled a couple of balls which were out but not given. So he ran up again sent the stumps flying and turned and said to umpire " i nearly had the bugger that time"
