Lee was not a decent test player for me average IMO as you could always get after him
Vettori again nothing special decent bat but nothing major with the ball at test level

300+ test wickets and batting average above 20 would suggest otherwise.
he was an ok bat and bowler nothing more IMO all whilst playing in a side that was the best around

I see what you're getting at with the playing in the best team around side but IMO Lee was a vital part of that side along with Ponting, McGrath and Warne.
Didn't get as many wickets as Lee (about 50 behind) but Gillespie had a far better average and played when that team was in its pomp.
