Listening to 5live last night the correspondent from india made the following points which I thought were quite interesting:

  • Indian fans are very upset with the BCCI for the way they're putting the IPL before test cricket. A big unrest growing about the IPL so watch this space.

Indian fans aren't making excuses about injuries or the Bell runout as they think they have been completley out played. They are also angry about the poor preperation again to do with the IPL

Indian fans don't see themselves as No1 Test team as the team have yet to win a series in Aus or SA.

And for me the most damning one. There is a serious lack of quality young players coming through the ranks in the last 6 or 7 years there has been hardly any new decent players on the scene and according to the experts non to come. They are particually worried as half the team will be retiring soon.

Oh and they aren't bothered that Harbijan is injured as they think he's been a poor Test bowler for a while now.

Was thinking this myself. Sewag, Tendulkar, the Wall, Dhoni, Harbajan and Zaheer are not getting any younger either. The only youngster I've been remotely impressed with is that Sharma hippy, and even he has lost a yard of pace since he came on the scene.

It doesn't help when you can earn more money being a 20/20 specialist than a 4/5 day player.

Virat Kholi looks a decent player. Looking forward to seeing him in the last 2 Tests.

This.

There's still time for the likes of Raina and Mukhund to develop anarl. Mukhund for example is only 21 and has 45 first class matches at an average of 55 under his belt already.

Kumar and Sharma seem decent enough in the seam bowling ranks and surely they've got some decent spinners coming through.

The thing that got me the other day was how much it looked like their players didn't want to fight it out (credit to Yuvraj who didn't look like he knew what to do but stuck it out). Can't teach a player or learn that.
