Who would you pick for the 3rd test?

For me, it's Bresnan, he's just got a 5 wicket haul and 90 with the bat, he can't be dropped after doing that. Tremlett is a good bowler, but will need another game to see if he's fully fit.

Also, win percentages with:

Tremlett in 10 tests-50%
Bresnan in 8 tests-100%

Easy choice IMO.

Bresnan is in possession and has had a fantastic test. Also Tremlett wont have had a county game to test his injury so its a definite Bresnan for me.

Tremlett has been superb but i'm not sure I would even take him to India. I just dont think he would be effective out there.

Bressa should be a permanent fixture in the side

Probably should move Prior to 6 and play them both, but likely they will play defensively and bat long again

why would keeingp to a winning formula of 4 bowlers suddenly mean defensive? put on a big total and knock over 20 is the name of the game, which we've been doing as it is.

tremlett is betterwith the ball imo but bresnan did the business so he shouldnt lose his place.

I'd say if Trott can't play bring in Tremlett, our line-up is strong enough to score enough with Prior at 6, but there's no way the selectors will do that.

I reckon it will be horses for courses between Bresnan and Tremlett. I think Bresnan will play the next test and unless he performs miracles then Tremlett will play at The Oval because of the bounce.

Yep totally agree

more defensive. not defensive.

lets say Trott is injured, there is no one REALLY banging on the door as a batsman. but in the bowling there is and Prior can easily bat 6

That would be my choice as well if Trott doesn't make it, sadly I also agree that the selectors won't go down that route.

The problem is, at the moment, we've got 12 players who all have a very strong claim to a place in the team.

Spot on mate.

To be honest, it isn't a problem, shows strength in depth.

You could say 13 as Finn has done nowt wrong.

In fact outside of South Africa would Englands 2nd string pace attack of Finn, Bresnan and Onions be better than all other test nations? Possibly not Pakistan but I can never keep up with who plays and who is banned.

Very astute. I never thought of that. The selectors would never go for it though, shame.

They do seem to have a more flexible selection policy now, probably because there are 13/14 players who are of a similar quality so we can afford to chop and change a bit more depending on conditions.

Bresnan for me. He's earned his place in the team and he adds great depth to an already strong batting unit.

I'm still not 100% convinced by Tremlett, especially away from home. On the slow, low roads of the sub-continent are his 84mph half trackers really going to be effective?

Bressie and not just I predicted he would be an England Test player 7 years ago.

Do you think any of those Yorky batters are good enough?

I'm not convinced by Taylor and Hildreth. Bopara is just a flat track bully and I still think it is a tad early for Stokes.

Potentially the best is Johnny Bairstow. His keeping is nowhere near as good as his dad's though.

Gale has looked a good player whenever I have seen him. Admitedly not very often.
