How's he bowling generally? Saw him play a T20 game recently but he got smacked out of the attack and only bowled 1 over. Not noticed him too much this season to be honest.
would have been interesting to see how Swann faired in the 2007 Ashes over there

Each test series has different nuances, I'm not big on comparing teams across time, but I very much doubt the series would have been 5-0....and I wouldn't have flown half way around the world to witness it either

I have to be honest the tribute to Warne and McGrath at Sydney was very special to any fan of cricket, one never to be forgotten.
agreed. All biting aside, test cricket is a poorer place without those two and a few others like Murali and Kumble.

As I've said many times, no-one got close to the great Aussies of the 90s/00s or the Windies of the 80s but they won't have cared much because they were winning.

Seems to have found his form since going to Sussex although not sure I'd be in a hurry to pick him for England again. He has been bowling tightly and picking up a reasonable number of wickets but I think I'd prefer to see Briggs given a chance, who also can bowl economically and very threatening spells, or Rashid who has consistently taken wickets for 3 seasons now.

I dont really know enough about the other spinners such as Briggs but in India you need to be able to bowl tightly for long periods as well as have the ability to take wickets. I dont think its somewhere to debut a young player even though Swann did do OK out there.
I would go for Monty for the India tour and then maybe look elsewhere.
It's a shame Gary Keedy isn't a better batter.
Presumably when we play in Sri Lanka (and Dubai too?) we'll be playing a second spinner. Should we dropping a seamer or Morgan to free the space up?

Morgan, The sky pundits reckon it could be a case of prior batting 6 then an Adil Rashid, Samit Patel or Borthwick taking the second spinners spot at 7.

I fancy Ansari above any of them spin bowling allrounders but he is a kid tbf...

England will drop a seamer but possibly play a batsman such as Bopara or Stokes that can bowl some decent overs I reckon.
I'm not sure why they seem intent on any 2nd spinner being a number 7 as well. It massively restricts our choices. If we do go for 2 spinners for the winter (and I think we should) IMHO the best option for the line up would be, drop Morgan, 6. Prior, 7. Broad, 8. Swann, 9, Tremlett, 10. Anderson, 11. Monty.
One possible change to that selection might be Bresnan for Tremlett as I feel he might be more effective on sub continent wickets, but that's a debate for another thread at another time.
