Timeless Test World Cup Final

The ICC are looking into a test World Cup in 2013 for the top 4 ranked teams, with the final possibly being a timeless test in order to ensure a winner.

Sounds like a great idea to me, anything that helps promote test cricket back to being the pinnacle of the game in the minds of the general public is a good idea IMHO, and we could finally determine who is really the best team in the World at the proper format of the game.

Thoughts?

Timeless Tests are a horrific, taking most of the tactics out of the game. I'd much rather go down the route of Baseball, play a series of home and away Tests, best of seven or something.

This should be the route the domestic T20 competition went down as well, IMO.

I agree, timeless tests remove some tactics from the game. Better to have a normal test with a neutral groundsman charged with preparing a 'four day' pitch (would stop English groundsman preparing a flat one in event draw in final made England champions due to higher ranking)

Having a Test tournament would be better for me. Once in four years have a Test tournament involving the top four ranked teams in a knockout style shootout hosted in the No 1 ranked team's back yard. With neutral umpires and full use of technologies. Like a six nations or tri nations in rugby.

Love five day cricket, hate to see it diminished by poor officialdom by the ICC. Analogous to FIFA in many respects, full of tossers.

Jesus, imagine if England got to the final and it was a featherbed

England 1st Inns

Cook Not Out 600 (5000 balls)
Strauss lbw b Zaheer 0
Trott Not Out 300 (9000 balls)

Mach Drawn

Think you might have misunderstood the point of a timeless test.
