aye englands weather helps with swing etc so no surprises that a swing bolwer does better in those conditions.

however, it didnt piss down in australia and he did very well.

probably because the Aussies are total shite and they would be a lot lower in the rankings if it werent for the fact that they have fallen from such a great height
 
Venues and conditions for cricket in England are as good as anywhere in the world and there is something for everyone at our main test match venues. In the past we have had pace, bounce and spin at OT but batsmen get value for their shots. Trent Bridge suits swing bowlers but is a great place for quick scoring. Lords can often be very flat these days but is still the place where every cricketer wants to play. Headingly flat when the suns out and swing with cloud cover. Plenty runs and a good batting track at the Oval - helps spin later in the game. Edgbaston is another venue that historically has something for everyone.

I take the argument about time being lost in the game at times but cricket in england is usually a great battle between bat and ball and I expect it will be no different v India.

It amuses me greatly when you do this.

The ICC rankings are calculated over the last three years, with ones in the last 12 months counting double. So performances in the golden era mean squat all.

They are where they are because in the last three years they've beaten Pakistan, New Zealand, Windies and the Saffers (in SA).

Stop making stuff up.

All grounds share one thing in common, it there is rain about or cloud cover, it does all sorts which is the point I am getting at. Test cricket in this country is dominated by poor weather

slipping ever further down the rankings, helped by the likes of Bangladesh,Zimbabwe, Kiwis being even worse than them

Cricket is about adapting to different conditions.

Quick and bouncing in Aus, swing in England, spin in Asia etc.

it'd be boring as fuck if every single country had dead tracks like Sri Lanka (where 600 plays 700 in games played in blazing heat where the bat completely dominates the ball).

Over a century of test cricket in England. All the greats of the past have played at least half of their entire test careers on home soil and the weather suddenly becomes an issue because it helps Jimmy Anderson :)

As regards to India's preparations, I couldn't give a shit, their itinerary, their fault. It's in our back yard so we can prepare any kind of pitches that we want. Like India's ground-keepers haven't prepared slow low spinning wickets for years? So much so, that some people have attributed this aspect of their cricket in producing real out an out fast bowlers, or lack thereof.

My only qualm about this series is playing at Lords first. Why should we give the oppositions team an incentive going into the first test? Surely Lords should always be second on the list. This reason of geeing up the opposition alone. Evidence is the commentators talking about Tendulkars lack of runs at Lords, and how he has to get a hundred. Talk about messing with karma man.

tbf indias record at lords is abysmal (only 1 test win iirc)
