In light of India being number one in the world, wouldnt it have been advisable to have more than one warm up game

Playing in the Windies is hardly preparation for playing on English wickets

In addition they wont come accross wickets as flat as Taunton in the test series

cue a load of comments re excuses for Jimmy

Seen the white test and that exactly what it is - a prepared get out for Anderson doing the business yet again. We had it in Australia and now its a case of conditions suiting him and India being ill prepared.

India 90-6 in their first knock at Taunton. Be funny if Somerset batted on and kept them in the field.

and what did England do in Australia what they hadnt done in the previous 24 years, played two 4 day warm up games

when you start your league season over here as a clubbie, the vast majority play more than one warm up game

I wonder if Strauss has the influence to do that - he won't want to give them another chance to bat their way into form.

what goes round comes around.

we can expect similar treatment when we go on tour if we dont give them another chance to bat

Do you not think Somerset will tell him where to go and push for a (relatively) prestigious win though?

so its pissing down in London all week and the Indians have had a single days batting practice before playing the first test

Jesus wept

Fill ye boots Jimmy lad

But if Broad takes 25 wickets in the series then it's because he's the best English cricketer since Botham?

And if Anderson does it it's because the Indians are under-prepared, it's raining, he's bowling on a greentop etc etc.

I think I'm getting the hang of this now.

Broad wont take 25 wickets - this is an opinion

They are under prepared, it is raining and it will be a green top - these are facts

I thought cricket was meant to be a summer sport played in nice weather

The only fact there is that they are under prepared.

We have no idea what the weather will be like for the rest of the summer and there's no guarantees we'll be playing on greentops either. Even if there is a tinge of green on the wicket it's hardly an out and out greentop. Those types of pitches are long gone in the test arena.

I don't think Strauss and co. have much impact on the weather. You play cricket in all conditions and if England are better than India in damp conditions then thats just the way it is, but batsmen the quality of Tendulkar, Dravid and Ghambir don't tend to get out often due to the weather. I doubt many Indians slate Harbhajan for taking wickets on dustops in Chennai either, each side has their own favourable conditions.

forgive me but if I am wrong but is cricket a summer sport

So it automatically never rains in July?

I appreciate that the odd test will be rain effected but its gonna be 4 out of 4 so far

I just want to see some quality uninterupted test cricket played in summer conditions not perenially seing the ball zipping all over the place because its been chucking it down

I do too but it's up to India to adapt and cope with it just like it would be if England were playing on sub-continent dustbowls.
