excellent summing up of Anderson.

I will reiterate my point, cant afford the leader of your attack to be so hit and miss depending on the conditions

Yes, but who do we replace him with.

And Jimmy is not the leader of our attack (or at least shouldn't be) in ODI's.

He's a much better leader in the test arena. His type of bowling generally isn't suited to ODI's hence why he tends to be very inconsistent.

All for picking a horses for courses attack in the pyjama games.

Still the best Test bowler in the country, by some distance.

The only person in the world that could start a thread criticising Anderson and using an article as evidence that selects Anderson amongst 'the hits' the best quick on view and says he was the person most effective for Englands first two wins and hugely influential in the 3rd.

You couldn't make it up its like encouraging people to watch botham's ashes to prove that beefy was shite

And 5 tests under the blue skies of Australia. ;) But let's not go there for the 100th time.

and a career in India against the best players in the world in their pomp that most quicks would die for.

6 tests with an average of 33 per wicket by my calulation that means the oppo would get 366 in both innings. You wont win many tests in India chasing 366 in the second innings. Next

As usual you are wrong ;) - averages a superb 29.3 in India against Sachin and Dravid at their best, where many of the true greats of the game including the WI pacemen of the 70s have struggled. You may have included home tests against the same opposition but as you know they dont count.

I didnt realise 3 tests in India counted as a 'career'

Considering India are the team to beat in test, the leader of our attack averaging 33 over home and away tests isnt good enough for us to be the number 1 side in the world

33 against all tests against india tendulkar, dravid, sehwag, ganguly etc is pretty high class. 36 as a career average including many of those tests against the weakest teams in the world in favourable conditions is pretty woeful.

Only a complete loon would champion the cause of the latter against the former ;)

you can pad it out how you like, if the leader of your attack is bowling sides out for 366 in innings one and two you wont win many tests

Until there is a better player that can force his way into the team Jimmy here to stay. Besides if Broad and Saj were leading the attack for England, India would only need to bat once in evey innings all summer.

750-2 Declared.....
