After a quick 5 minute search I suggest RTG gets on the phone to the above who claim the Fairs Cup to be a major trophy (there's probably countless other clubs and media outlets that too claim it so you might want to do some extra research).
Strange isn't it that only mackems seem to take exception to it being labelled a major trophy? It's as if your all bitter about it for some reason.. dirty green mackems (again, I simply cannot get over the irony of the thread title ) some might say.

They don't, you're just making it up. (Forget the Evening Chronic.)

If it was such a major trophy please explain why, in the year Newcastle won it, 3 teams failed to turn up for games and Leeds went through on a coin toss.

Hey, it's been a productive thread tho. We've all learned that the Fair's Cup trophy is held in high esteem throughout Barcelona and that it ranked as a major European trophy.

whatever it is or isnt regarded as its one more trophy (and 100+ games more) than the 6th most successfull league side in history have managed to amass in europe.

If I remember, the 'unheard of' team that Ujpest played in the semi-final were there because the team they should have played in the quarter final didn't turn up.
