Bell is now what he promised to be. He is one of the best players in the world. It would beinteresting to see what he averages since he was left out

Watching the highlights on Five tonight, midway through Bell's innings they put a stat on the screen that showed that in his last 12 tests (including this one) he has scored 1,000 runs at an average of 100. "Bradmanesque" they called it.

Exactly. You pick your best 11 and stick with them which is the point I was trying to make then. He was amongst the best 11 and still is

your average will alwyas be slightly higher away from home because you are playing on different surfaces to what you are use to

That would be fair enough if you didnt use the opposite point of view when saying the likes of Saj should be given ago instead of Jimmy because you never know if they are any good unless you give them a try. Anderson by anyones standards is in our best 11 the criteria you have used in the above post.

he has become an excellent test match batsmen really started to produce when it matters now.

However I hope to god we don't use him in the 20/20 format and for me he shouldn't be guaranteed a ODI spot either.

and I dont believe Jimmy gets in the best XI simple as that.

which is the same reponse you got when you said Bell should be dropped

In fairness Bell has proved many people wrong and far better judges of the game than you or I so fair play to him - remember this is the same Ian Bell who said himself yesterday that he was surprised he hadnt been dropped himself.
It is also fair to say that in a population of over 60 miilion people the only person who would drop Anderson or Bell from the England team after their performances over the last couple of years in particular would be a narrow minded bigot that couldnt admit to being wrong. They are both outstanding performers for our national team.

Anderson has done well and I am happy to say he has proved to be better than I gave him credit for.

However, I still stand by the mantra we wont be number 1 in the world with him leading the attack as the two sides above us have Steyn and Khan who are better than Jimmy when it comes to leading their respective attacks.

You've got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between

You've got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene

If England had a Steyn or a Khan plying their trade in the county championship then none of us would have a problem with them replacing Jimmy, although it would more likely be Broad that would get dropped first.

However, until that player turns up Anderson fully deserves his place as 1 of our 3 seamers. Who would you replace him with in your England XI?

Pleased for him tbh, never liked him but he is growing on me.

ffs why do we always go down that route
