a swing bowler I would have thought so Onions or Shazad for me.
Shazad seems to be totally out of form and Onions is in and out, how much does Dernbach swing it? I agree they'll leave Finn out to keep a bit of variety in the attack.

Dernbach has got the call, makes sense in a way as an attack of Finn, Broad and Tremlett would be too similar.

not seen much of dernbach personally but he took a few sri lankans the other week in the lions match

Apparently Finn is still expected to play, with Dernbach as 12th man.
Michael Holding said on commentary the other day he would pick Finn as a bowler over Broad any day - would many agree?

thats an interesting one that. imo broad is capable of bowling total dross, but then suddenly a magical spell of 3 or 4 wickets can come from him
finn otherwise is more of a steady eddie, angus fraser, bore them out type.
i disagree with mikey on this one, though it is a fair view

I can't see them playing 3 bang it in bowlers, because if things aren't going to plan then we've not really got a plan B.
As for Finn being better than Broad, Finn really didn't impress me in The Ashes. He bowled an awful lot of long hops and was very expensive for a test match. Hence the reason he got dropped.

Interesting comparison that, not one I'd go along with fully as I think Finn can pick up wickets quite quickly and does have a good strike rate, not as economical as Fraser either but he does have a repetetive action which should mean if he gets into a rythmn, he could probe away like a Fraser/McGrath type - that should hopefully come over time.

i quite like watching finn bowl and think he will be selected for the lords match at least.
i hope he has rectified the problem of falling over in his follow through though.
the attack will be broad, tremlett, swann and finn for lords imo

For pure variety, I think I'd go with Dernbach aswell, a bit harsh on Finn after a good start to his test career but as you say, you need a plan B.
Yes me too, he won't get into any sort of groove if he can't follow through properly

what sort of pace does Dernbach bowl at ?
i can only remember seeing him in a t20 a couple of years back and he was early to mid 80s then.

I've seen little of him tbh, he's certainly not out and out quick and seems to bowl around the mid 80's mark, bowling a reasonably full length looking for movement.
