........ so fanatically on these forums.

Over the last few weeks there's been no end of people, on here, supporting the theory that Newcastle are much better placed than Sunderland and will 'comfortably' finish above us.

I've tried to find the logic in this, I really have, but I'm still puzzled.

Newcastle, as far as I can see, are in for a long hard battle against relegation like they were last season.
Before I posted this thread I had a rare look at one of their forums to see what they're saying and the doom & gloom makes this place look like a haven of unfettered delirious joy.

They can't score, have players who don't want to play for them, a manager who's talking crazy and a team who've barely managed an attack this season ........... they remind me of the Mags in the play off match when they invaded the pitch, charged around a bit then hit a force field on the half way line

The Mags are saying that they're shite, the players are shite, the manager's shite and the club is shite ......everything is shite.

So why do so many people seem to automatically defend them on here ........... not a criticism of people, everyone's entitled to their opinion, I'm just genuinely baffled.
When Newcastle have been good I've accepted it like when Robson was there and looked capable of winning something.

But I just don't understand why people, Sunderland supporters, believe Newcastle are so much better than Newcastle supporters do.

Only 49,000 there for their first home game of a new season, so that's another myth blown.

As I (and others) have said b4, the situation in N'cassel looks woorying for them, agreeable to us - They do have some very good players - but the mix between players, manager, owner emits a foul smell. Long may it continue.

we were a second division side when I started attending matches. My dad said to me one day, "which team do you hate the most?", my answer Boro, his response, "You will learn"

I hate the bastards, hope they cease to exist

Do you think the people who 'big up' Newcastle are people who work or mix with Mags and are scared to criticise them for fear of it biting them in the arse?

I think their brush with the title, and their flirting with champions league football has had just as much effect on us as it has had on those simpletons up the road. Couple that with how shite we were at the time it's hard for some of our fans to forget, and stop thinking in that bunker mentality. The season they had getting into the Europa league had a horrible familiar feeling to it too.

This season, they're the same steaming pile of shite as they were last year. We've invested, and in the next few weeks we will see the difference.

There's probably an element of this - some people are more prudent, others are stuck in the rut of being the underdog and as I said, they do have some good players, and on paper they shouldn't be relegation fodder. However, football is not just names, it's about team spirit, unity, identity and desire - non of which seem to apply to them.

I dunno if it was a mag wum, but last year after the January sales and Sunderland came home with Graham in the shopping bag, while the mags went out on their Paris shopping spree, one guy started a thread saying something like "We are destined to always be in their shadow........." I remember reading it and thinking how can a Sunderland fan, even if the thought crosses his mind, put that down in writing and post it on our board. I hope it really was a mag infiltrator. If it wasn't , then it was an example of conformist fatalism which we, nor the region, can afford.

I've seen people, I believe to be Sunderland, taking the piss out of those, myself included, who said Newcastle would struggle this season.
It seems to go beyond opinion and they get quite nasty with it ............ mind you I remember people saying they wouldn't go down right until the second they actually went down

And I was there to witness it:lol:

Newcastle haven't managed a serious shot this season but the same people who would go barmy if that was us will still say Newcastle will come good and finish comfortably.

It's the weird double standard I can't understand I suppose.

Schizophrenia, and a defeatist mental state.

Our resident mag at work had put a pic of Ashley on the dartboard I noticed when my team ended up at his place after a pub round..He´s never defending them, never speaks highly of them etc.

But yes, he wears the shirt like it was glued on him.
