Boro away about 1971 aged 10. In their main stand. I couldn't understand why people didn't want Sunderland to win. I thought there was something wrong with them.
That was my first away game, half asleep here. First home game was 3-2 v Chelsea 68-9, 33,000 crowd, the Football Echo read "Palmer penalty puts paid to Pensioners". Around that time we lost 8-0 to West Ham.
