Sunderland AFC U18s



16s travelled but didn’t play, don’t know why. Summary I’ve been given of 18s is Derby big & strong, came out of the traps faster, some v good players & had the wind first half. Second half better performance all round. And they made three subs. We’re playing a young team as mentioned above.

Only two non u18 players in that starting line up if im correct?

You cant take much from the u18 league though, the better players have already been promoted to 21s football at this stage of the season giving the "squad filler" type players an opportunity.
 
Yes, perhaps ‘young’ is wrong. As you say, the best scholars are first team or fringing first team, 21s, loan. The league position is irrelevant at this age really. It’s maybe more a reflection of squad size and overall quality.

We are producing some cracking players, can only imagine how many more we would have if the catchment area was equivalent to London or North West clubs.
