Staying Up

There are 14 games yet to play, and we are on 8 points. Which means we require 2.3 points per game to get 40 points (22 points from 14 games.) It's quite possible that we won't need 40 points as that total has only been required twice in the last 10 years and on one of those occasions West Ham went down with 43 points.

However 40 points is what teams who want to stay up are aiming for. 2.3 points per game over the course of a season would get you 86 or 87 points, which is title winning form.

On the other hand, we've had all of our hard home games and have quite an easy home run in to the end of the season, and we're only 5 points behind West Ham and Fulham, which, given our abortion of a start to the season and our terrible run of home games is quite frankly amazing! Everyone said when they viewed the fixture list that it would be hard with most people expecting us to be in the relegation zone at christmas, just hoping that we weren't too far out of sight. Well Christmas is three weeks away, our form is improving and our run of home games is about to end. There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic, starting at tottenham tomorrow. Lets get ABV the sack!

There's 24 games left to play...

There are 24 games yet to play, and we are on 8 points. Which means we require 1.3 points per game to get 40 points (32 points from 24 games.) It's quite possible that we won't need 40 points as that total has only been required twice in the last 10 years and on one of those occasions West Ham went down with 43 points.

However 40 points is what teams who want to stay up are aiming for. 1.3 points per game over the course of a season would get you 49 or 50 points, which is top 10 form.

You also typed 22 points, despite meaning and using 32 in your equation ;)

i near sh!t meself when i saw we needed 2.3 points per game. friggin whoopsies all round.

1.25 needed now.

1 (return since Gus arrived) is not enough.

With our home games, 20+ points are not as much to ask for as you would think. Then sneak a couple of away wins and draws and staying up is very much still there for us.
