Weird number for Burstow. But I wonder if younger players are starting to think of things in terms of having ‘their’ number these days - rather than wanting a classic first XI shirt. Declan rice stuck with 41 even after moving to Arsenal and Phil foden has 47 tattooed on his neck! Suspect it’s a bit of NBA influence - where a player sticks with a number throughout their career where they can.

Foden's is because his grandad passed away at 47. Rice just did it cos he's superstitious.
