The era of players like him being rated should be over.

Physical unit, strong and good in the air but pretty much shit at everything else. The fact that some think he should get in the England team says all you need to know about why our national team struggles against the big teams.

Solid defender that sometimes gets it wrong - better than Mertesacker - he should be Oshea's replacement. He wont get turned inside out every week as he aint playing watmore.....watmore has skinned Stones and Shawcross - Mertesacker will be dreading it.

A few of them were trying to bully him when he first came on. It was a bit like "You're in a game now and I'm going to kick you every chance I get, little boy". He showed them he was the man though. In true Partridge style, needless to say he had the last laugh. He was laughing at them all game really. Really taking the piss :cool:

I disagree. I don't like diving or intentionally trying to injure fellow players. Both are awful.Nowt wrong with a robust challenge where you go for the ball and occasionally you will hurt someone.....that's different to trying to hurt someone.

Still no excuses for players who go down trying to get an advantage as far as I am concerned.

But people wouldn't feel the need to dive in the first place if the opposition weren't going out to foul/injure them.

Bit dirty yes, but is Stoke's best defender - he has been as crucial as Butland in their clean sheet run prior to our game against them.

He was troubled by Watmore's pace like, that's more down to Watmore having energy than Shawcross being shit etc
