only seen him a few times tends to be little selfish when I've seen him, dont mind that in striker but. Like the look of him Smith and Greenwood from the u18's when I saw them earlier on in the season
He captained the USA in the Dallas Cup a couple of months ago and played defensive midfield in those games, so obviously got it in him to be less selfish when required.

Seen a montage of some of his goals a while back via Andys twitter and he has scored some screamers, not just a few either, there was a load of em. Looks like he has an eye for goal.

Been doing a bit digging on him, including talking to Mark Atkinson who has worked with him a bit for the development squad in the past. He caught the academies eye when he was 10 when he was on a footballing tour of Europe with an American centre of excellence. The club have worked very closely with Gooch, his family and the American youth teams. He was brought over to Wearside twice a year to train with the youth teams until he signed a contract in 2012. Despite playing as a forward or out wide for the development squad, he has been used in a deep midfield role for his international side due to his physicality and ability. Apparently he has been the target of training regularly with the first team in the uocoming season.

Sounds like a really promising talent,

I think the fact he moved up to U21 at age 18 is certainly a positive... also some nice goals shown in that link (...for what that is worth - which ain't much...)

That will help get him out

Which is what we have been told for years that kids should be made to play in various positions to develope their understanding of the game

I didn't like this bit!
"Sunderland likely to be relegated to the second tier of English football"

Some very good goals there, hopefully he continues his development and next season gets some game time on loan.
To be fair on April 15, 2014 when it was written, we were pretty close.

For anyone interested and that has insomnia....

Lynden Gooch and the USA U20s take on Chile tonight at 9pm EST to open the NTC Invitational Tournament. Match will be streamed live at ussoccer.com...

If he doesnt make it he should become an exlusive holiday resort.

"Oh yes, we're off to Lyndon Gooch for a week. Should be first class."
