Turn the clock back and change one thing, a goal a foul anything. Two things stick out for me

Joe Boltons penalty miss for a hat trick....

Why did Gary Rowell make the last min tackle that just about finished his career, he had already scored the winner.

What would yours be

harvey saving from vic halom in about the 88th minute of the 73 cup final

should have been 2-0

our centre forward missing an open goal against the mags in the 9-1 game in the last minute

should have been ten

Lenny Ashurst not playing that long through ball for Cloughie to chase on Boxing Day 1962

On a similar note, Chris Harker not playing in goal for Bury that day.

Cloughie was not the only forward that he injured in that way (go down for the ball then roll over to turn his back on the player and continue to roll over onto the player's leg).

Also bob stokoe accused cloughie of feigning his injury as well

We would have gone up that season instead of Chelsea if Cloughie had stayed fit. ThEn Brown might have stayed as manager and we wouldn't have started off with a 15 year old in goal. All ifs and buts of course but Liverpool went up then and look at their history in the 50 years since. Afraid now it is too late cos of the money involved.

Tommy Docherty not playing Frank Upton at centre forward against us in May '63.

His constant fouling seemed to upset our rhythm and we ended up losing a game we'd dominated 1-0.

If we had only drawn we would have been promoted, Brown would probably have not left and I still believe we would have established ourselves as one of the top English clubs.

EDIT.

Just seen jcrossan's post saying virtually the same thing.

That was '61/'62 marra and they did the double over us that season (0-3 & 1-4).
