Hume Beale reaction

He was feeding off the negativity around the club at the time and using it to his advantage and the team’s disadvantage.

Whether he was right or not doesn’t matter in the slightest.

Pritchard threw his toys out because he didn’t get the contract deal he wanted and forced a moved by making himself unavailable for selection, despite being paid quite handsomely by the club to kick a ball about.

Saying it was because of Beale is quite disingenuous here.

It was a tad worse than that. Pritchard was properly messed around by the club. Last summer he was told he wasn't needed, he could leave and find a new club (like Gooch & Batth). Alex wasn't started in the early games before the window closed - understandable if he was likely to be off, but as offers weren't forthcoming so he stayed. It should have been different once the window shut: he was our player, here until Jan at least. Surely he would be available, yet he was never started in the remaining time TM was head coach.

Jan arrives. Pritch, has only 6 months left on his contract. He's now the wrong side of 30 - and must consider his job security as a professional. He wants to leave, and now there is genuine interest. But now the club do a 180 degree turn. They belated realise his value to the squad. He starts a couple of games. They now want him to stay, but are only prepared to offer him a one-year extension. At his age, a longer contract is as important as the wage. So he is frustrated at not being allowed to take up an offer, for a length of contract the club aren't willing to match. This despite what KS has said in the past about not wanting to stand in the way of players career progression.

I'm not saying this justifies Pritch refusing to play. But the club did not treat him well.

He was literally showing his unhappiness with Beale on the touchline every match. It was clear they didn’t get on. He was our best player for much of the year. Turns out we miss him and we’ve been left with a knackered who is now falling out with the rest of them.

Some of the rubbish on this thread. Pritch is an opinionated so and so, who let’s rip at every coach/manager he works for. Surely everyone knows that? His heart is in right place, it makes him look like an agitator but he’s not

One of my friends sits behind the dugouts at Portman Road and was there when you played us last month - said Pritchard was subbed and went off yipping about "sh*t tactics" and something about "chichi". He then kicked a water bottle in the stand and chucked his coat on the seat next to him.
Cheers - interesting. From watching Pritchard, his attitude on the pitch and at being subbed has often not looked great in terms of whinging, not looking happy etc but generally, he cant be that bad attitude wise if Tony has snapped him back up.

No idea what went on with Hume, whether beale saw him or not

As for Pritchard, it’s pretty obvious he wanted a longer contract than what was offered so wanted away….but that doesn’t mean he gets away with no criticism for downing tools. He sees out the contract he has, or puts in a transfer request, and still plays while waiting for a move.
Like any other job everyone has frustrating times but people don’t just withdraw labour, they carry on working until they are away like a professional

It sounds like he was right though, doesn’t it?

He threw his toys out of the pram because he was frustrated with Beale. Decided he didn’t want to play for him.

Sounds like he’s as frustrated as we all are, at what’s happening to our club.
This argument never flies with the fans but I'm with you. It's f***ing awful watching us under Beale, can't imagine how awful it is playing for him.

Don't really blame any player for struggling for motivation under the likes of Beale or moyes

No player should ever struggle for motivation no matter the manager, surely they haven't spent their lives so far to get to where they are today simply to be 'unmotivated' by whoever the incumbent manager is at that time. As unmotivating a character as the likes of Beale and Moyes are surely once you cross the white line on a Saturday motivation shouldn't come into it at that level

How do YOU know what went on?

We have a SHITE owner, a SHITE board, a SHITE DoF, a SHITE manager, SHITE coaches, and some SHITE players around him: SHITE strikers. That clown, Achiche. Jobe constantly getting picked in front of him. Bad often being a headless chicken.

It could be any one, some or all of those things that hastened his move. I don't blame him for nashing off. Ultimately, it's that clown of an owner's fault though.

People really do see what they want to see .

As for Pritchard he's looked miserable and complained regardless of who was manager, and based off listening to other players talk about him that's just who he is.

He's still his gaffer, and it's unwritten protocol to acknowledge the HC when subbed off, and vice versa.
He's a bigger man than Beale, that's all.
I just think the two issues are totally different.

Forget the spurious Pritchard element in this.

However, the Hume incident reveals quite a lot about the man Beale is.

There is absolutely no way he did not see Hume offering his hand as he left the field.

Hume was showing humility and professional deference to his boss in an honourable way, and Beale blanked him. No other explanation for that.
It is a blatant disrespect for a very good proffessional footballer, who had given his all, and was humiliated in his attempt to stay proffessional when hooked.

I hope Beale is proud of himself for that, and got the big man boost to his ego he was searching for. But only a small man, with a small mentality, and an even smaller self worth would try (and fail) to humiliate another man, in such a public way.

The real man in this, walked down the tunnel silently, and kept his dignity and self respect. Well done Mr Hume. We all know mate.

No person should ever fart either.

But it happens.

I said on another thread before yesterdays game he had lost the dressing room (if he ever had it)... shirley now it's even more toxic!

Hume is one of the most popular players in the fans eyes. Id be surprised if he wasn't in the squad as well. It's certainly the kind of action that can get a squad to turn

Never had a shit manager in your job?

They're people not robots

Has Huume liked or responded to the Instagram post from Beale?

It's a concern that some link someone posted yesterday about a Rangers player feeling disrespected by Beale and Beale responded by saying something along the lines of "He's actually one of the players I'm closet to here" and his response to Humme was almost exactly the same

The fact that he even had a track record of having to say this shit - via social media - is a massive warning sign to me
