Ah, the mirror muscles
Gaylords
Poetic. Deep. Like my squats.
Connor Wickham strikes me as the type, who if he wasnt a professional footballer, would be T-shirt training all the time.
or the latest craze?
Its all I see on my news feeds and twitter. People trying to sell juice plus, recommending veg and fruit smoothies, bringing out their own gymwear brands, checking in to the gym. I get the feeling some people seem to go to the gym to highlight it over social media. Occur with anyone else?
Sorry if SEB
hmmmI suppose it has became trendy with the yougans like as that's all they craic on about " which gym they train at and how much gear they taking" etc etc but its a good thing that people are getting more and more into it as its good for ya.
The amounts of gyms in Sunderland alone nowadays tells ya how popular it is getting!
Personally I train 6 days a week, 3 x weights and 3 x cardio but I train for the soul fact I love training not for the titty tight white t-shirt down the town on a Saturday neet malarkey.
Meaning the gym is good for you, not the gear lolhmmm
I'm not one for criticising 't-shirt' training, like. If there's one thing I've realised it's that strength training is just another form of vanity.
In order to survive I will never need to squat the weights I do when training. I live in 21st century Britain.
Anyway, thinking about this a bit more, anyone think body dysmorphia among young men is being driven by the increased sexual empowerment of women (which is a good thing, by the way)? Whilst there's still a problem, the stigma around being a promiscuous woman is being lifted and women are increasingly able to select a sexual partner based on physical appearance over the likelehood of financial security. Again, that's a great thing but it's heaping a lot of pressure on young men.
One of those sociological ideas it's impossible to test properly but I think there's something in it.
for sure, there were barely any muscley/ripped lads at my school (im mid 30's) the bigger lads were more big bruiser types.
now most early 20s lads are protein shake/fat shredding pill/steroid mad, you see it in the bars all the triangle shaped lads and such like.
Its a good thing i think, fitness and health being trendy, and diet instead of beer and tabs and super nintendos.
Must be hard at school nowadays if your 5foot tall and like a waif or overweight, i imagine a lot more peer pressure to look like vin deisel
I don't think there are many at schools like. People seem to get into it in sixth form/university.
