Carvalho

Aye, good signing that and one you'd think we would have had a chance at. Loan fee or wage percentage was probably too much for us.

That Hull owner seems to like splashing the cash.
And also off field they have been superb - no outsourced catering, local stuff and decent beer in the ground (Efes)

We won't have got that upfront mate. Likely to be stretched out over 3/4 year which will just fo towards the running of the club. The academy takes up around 5m a year just for its CAT 1 status!

The lad needs to find some investors as he's no businesses to fall back on to make him money. His piggy bank will be decreasing by the day and he's probably already shitting himself.
If it's stretched out over 3/4 years (like most transfers are) then surely that works both ways.

Got laughed at for suggesting this in pre-season. Unreal signing for them. If we don’t show any ambition in January, we can wave goodbye to the play offs.
To be fair in the summer he went to the Bundesliga and the Champions League, it was unrealistic at the time. The fact he is moving to a championship club suggests his star has fallen quite a bit but I'm still surprised a lower premier league club wasn't interested. Would have liked him here in this window.

Depends on how KLD looks at it. He may think we'll stretch 5m of that 14m (not sure that figure is right either) on transfers while the rest goes for the running of the club.

Should have been all over this

only way they get a pass here is if Amad comes back
absolutely. Im often quite sanguine when people post on here about a player signed by another club and declare SAFC shoiuld have been in for them-but carvalho is preciely the sort of player SAFC should be queieing up for..its a potential example of the failings if our recruitment team..he is an intuitive and easy signing..but rather than do that..they decide to pursue a strategy of being "cleverer" than that to sign someone more obscure..

And if its the case our recruitment team did want him..well to lose out to a parachute money team would be dissapointing but not catastrophic..to lose out to hull for any reason is scandalous.

The same applies to Keifer Moore TBH..an obvious signing on loan..if we dont get him then it will be a case that potentially the two best players to join clubs in this window will have joined SAFC rivals that arent parachute money teams..and thats not acceptable
Bit of a difference between Carvalho and say Burstow.
indeed Cravalho has almost a full season of being a first choice in this league and has played in the league above..burstow is a foundling..

You’re bang on about the recruitment.

Nowt on the BBC. I'd be amazed if he didn't end up at a lower-mid prem club.

One very good "under the radar" signing.. Finn Azaz to the smoggies. Came through The Baggies academy and was stolen by the dirty stinking vile.

A very good, young CAM.
