Not really, most people enjoy a night out. So if you plan your weekly meals to fuck and eat healthy, before a session on the drink, you've still saved yourself the 1000's of calories during the week.I've been limiting myself to one can of lager per week which is about 200 cals. I would be a nervous wreck on a big night out thinking about consuming thousands of calories on booze when I've consciously been limiting my calories through most of January. It seems a bit of a waste to plan meals to consume less then ruin it all on a night out, unless I didn't eat for a week afterwards.

You haven't wasted them. Just because you go on the piss doesn't mean everything you've ate during the week might as well have been a cheese burger

Indeed. If anything what you've done is allow yourself the opportunity to have a blowout. I was in the habit of enjoying a few single malts or craft beers at home during the week, but I'm trying to avoid that now in order to allow myself the big weekend piss up. If I have had a big one at the weekend, my Monday is almost always a sub-1000 calorie (plus workout) day.
The only way to stick to a healthy lifestyle is to not let it take over your life and have an adverse effect on your social time. You have to make sacrifices, granted, but you still have to reward yourself by allowing nights/days off.
I try and do a "reverse 5-2 diet" where I eat as healthy as possible for 5-6 days in the knowledge that once or twice a week I will go out on the piss, or have a big fatty, unhealthy meal, or both. I enjoy those nights in the knowledge that I've earnt it. The last two weekends I haven't gone out all, so I feel like I've "banked" them to use in the future if need be. This was basically in anticipation of the 6-Nations starting and the inevitable all-dayer or two in the pub.
Soz but you sound like a fattie to me!
Thankfully not mate. Getting my body fat measurements done in a couple of weeks, but I expect to be no higher than 15% (in fact I'd be disappointed if I was even that).
Glad you took it as intended. I'm going for a free boditrax measurement soon. I'm losing weight but still have a bit of flab around my midriff. If I lose all of that then I'll be a flyweight.
... and this myfitnesspal app that I've started using is proving to be rather helpful.... .
Me too mate, been using it for nearly a month and it helps me plan my daily meals ahead so I keep within my targets. I lost about 6 lbs in 3 weeks so upped my calories a bit before I went too skinny. I just need to bust the gut then I'll raise calories and build some bulk, so be warned that I'll be asking loads of daft questions on here about gaining muscle without gaining fat.
I didn't eat any chocolate from New Year until a few days ago, I didn't really miss it to be fair. It's all about forming good habits and breaking bad habits.
Edit: good luck at dropping the fat from your knees, must be awful when you have your budgie smugglers on!
Heard of it but whats it do mate?I might have reacted differently if I had been a fatty mind.
My weight goes in cycles. Once I start eating healthily, I find it quite easy to maintain it for quite a while. But similarly once I start making it a habit to eat badly (usually a succession of "events", e.g. holidays, lads' weekends, birthdays, christmas etc) I easily fall into that as well.
Managed to get rid of 2.5cm round the gut since Christmas, and this myfitnesspal app that I've started using is proving to be rather helpful. This time around I'm doing it for my knees, as I'd like to play more football this year without needing to have more surgery, so lighter is better. Aiming for 12-13% body fat as something that is achievable while still having a social life.
