I've had a canny few days. 45 miles in last 5 days including 20 and 15 mile long runs. Got GNR next week but I'll be doing that slow with doing it fancy dress and then a weeks good training before the dreaded taper kicks in building up to Kielder. Never like taper weeks cos always feel like I want to be out putting more miles in and have to hold back.

Just completed my first ever event: tees pride 10k. Very happy with my time of 49:51. It's the first time I've ever attempted a time over 10k and wasn't sure whether I'd break 50:00 or not. I hoped I would but wasn't sure whether I'd have it in me so I'm delighted that I have. Gonna look into doing the Maften 10k in 6 or 7 weeks time now. I appear to have the running bug.

Finished 13th in tynedale jelly t today at 59.01, felt like I had plenty in the tank at the end too. Bodes well for a sub 80 half marathon soon
Well done to all running today, seems like a busy day
Well done Rat thats an impressive time.

I came in at 78mins, about what I expected given the heat. Bit too sunny for my liking...

Managed 1:49 in the half today. Came 10th. Extremely hard race.
1:49 for tenth place !
That must have been one evil course
Well done.

I ran the 10k that follows the second half of the HM route and lost 14 minutes on my best two times that I ran earlier in the month!

Well done mate. Cracking.
Might be tempted myself next year, though I fcuking hate steps !
Class event. Everything went well apart from a national trust volunteer taking down the tape and a few getting lost

Quite a few banks like, undulating trail course, fell over twice, got lost once and one piss stop. Good morning

Well done. Bit disappointed in myself for not signing up to do it. My friend did it and got her personal best.
I've been away on holiday this week so I guess I mightn't have enjoyed myself so much if I had to keep myself right for a race.

Just 9 miles this evening. Wasn't feeling great after a hard run yesterday. First six miles was pretty steady, and then finished with 3 miles of 200 metre intervals. Found a bit of motivation as I was doing a 3 mile loop in the opposite direction to some bloke by the name of Farah. He was fairly bouncing along!

I've always found running first thing is best for me due to the time issue. If I'm gonna do 10-20 miles is much easier getting up and back so it doesn't cut too much into my day. I get straight up and out the door as soon as I wake up, no hanging round for food and drink. I don't know if it'd be any good for you but because of my ultra running I regularly run with a camelbak now meaning I've got a supply of water and gels/food for my run. I sometimes start off a bit sluggish but just take it really easy for the first few miles and then have a gel after about 20-30 mins which I find combinded with my body waking up sorts me out and I'm fine from then on.
I think I am going to have to try it to get enough training in

I generally run on a morning as well, banana and a home made 500ml "sports" drink while getting ready then out the door never had a problem.

16 miles yesterday never seen so many people out was like New Year Week all over again when you get the resolutioners out. Legs have suffered the back end of the week this week is mini taper/cut back week before the GNR, last week should have been my cut back week but didn't want to lose two weeks training.

done 13.1 yesterday at 7.28 a mile pace, I kept it easy and made sure I was not out of breath at any point so when I finished it around 137.40 I was quite pleased, some days its easy and other days a right struggle, 2 more ickle jogs before gnr maybe wed and Friday.

Did 10 mile tonight @ 8.30 pace. Fully prepared for Sunday.

I'm still 50/50 about a park run on sat.

20mins last night on grass, nowt I know, but its a gradual start... do same again in a few days time.

wanted to ask - many runners on here do much work on there core and abs ? just started to do the plank every day and trying to remember to do some sit ups, always neglected stuff like this in past
