What was The Villa attendance at the weekend?

It's kind of funny the way attendances drop after relegation considering the tickets are cheaper and you generally get to see your team win more often!

just wondering how cheap my season ticket will be for next season, if we go down , more games mind so will be cheaper, and surely a few more wins, will be hurting this summer mind !

I think a few use it as a good excuse to fuck it off if you've been thinking of doing so for a while. I know my fatha did when went down last time and he's never been back.

Football down there is shite like as enjoyable as it winning.

A red hot day and we were packed onto that old open terrace that used to be the Witton end, had a face like a slapped arse from the sun afterwards. We had at least 10k down that day.

Some Villa fans' memories of that day in '75:

"I was in the Holte as usual. Sunderland had taken the Witton end and had another 5000 in Aston park."

"I was a 12 year old in the Witton End with my dad in our usual spot, though there must have been 12-14 thousand Sunderland fans there. They were as good as gold - we stopped them getting promoted and although I went mental for each of our goals not a word or look was sent my way."

"I left the Aston Tavern to walk to the ground as about 30 coachloads of Sunderland supporters were leaving the Serpentine car park. We were dressed from head to foot in claret & blue and walked in the middle of them down to the Witton Lane Holte End turnstile and didn't get so much as a dirty look. After the game while we were celebrating in the ground thousands of them were marched back up Witton Lane past the Holte End and were applauding us. Amazing sportsmanship under any circumstances but particularly so since we had cheered when the Norwich result was announced. Always had a soft spot for Mackems ever since."

"I was there that day and stood on the Witton End with all of the Sunderland fans. As people have said, there must have been 15k plus of them in the ground."

"What a day though VP packed to the rafters party time before during and after. I too thought how good the Sunderland fans was before and after the game always liked them over the geordies."

Have to say am a bit surprised at how touchy some of our lot have been over that 'empty seats' song.

Particularly given that the 'my garden shed' song is regularly aired by our away supporters.

And, let's face it, the former song is a statement of fact; whereas the latter one isn't.

If we go down our average will be near 40,000 imo. Villa's around 30,000
Just my opinion of course

We'd average low 30's and Villa mid 20's. Obviously would rise throughout the season if we're doing well. A Tuesday night game in January at home to Rotherham realistically isn't going to get more than 25,000 people interested enough to go along and watch. Irrelevant anyway as we ain't going down.
