Are Leicester really better than us?

They'd be lower down because Johnson and Fletcher aren't in the form of their lives. If they were both at their absolute best, which considering the talent of those two, they probably wouldn't be far off

You can't say just talk about players at their peak you have to talk about players as they are now and there is a good chance those players have already peaked. No way would anyone other than a minority of Sunderland players would choose those players over their Leicester counter parts.

Obviously the league table proves it and results but if you go man for man from the team they put out at the weekend.

Schmeichel
Simpson Morgan Huth fuchs
Mahrez drinkwater ngala Albrighton
Ulloa vardy

Vs

Pantilimon
Yedlin Jos kaboul Jones
Borini cattermole mvila Johnson
Fletcher defoe

No reason why we shouldn't be able to play 442 like Leicester do and kick on...

I'm not saying we should be top end but certainly comfortable away from relegation zone...
sounds like something the mags would say.

The op raises a decent question, as on paper there's not a huge difference in the squads however where it matters on the pitch there's a massive chasm.

They're pacy, hard working and have players that suit each position. We're miles away from echoing this despite wasting tens of millions in the transfer market.

Good luck to them

If we had bought any of the players in the Leicester team the fans wouldn't give the player a chance. It's something entrained in this club that turns a good player into a bad player.

Said all weekend if that Leicester team was playing in a red and white shirt at the SOL we would be bottom still.

This is not a dig at the fans it's a dig at the situation

We're talking about Vardy and Mahrez at their personal peak, of course you would t swap any other current player for them, not even from a top 4 team. The point is Leicester as a whole are doing well mostly because of them and without them they'd be nowhere near 1st in the league

Our squad has more total games played for Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Spurs etc. so we're better. That's how football works, right?

I personally think Mahrez will improve considerably more still very inconsistent believe it or not.
Vardy has only been a full time pro for 5 years so might have a longer career than some think.

Like i said before whilst Vardy and Mahrez get all the headlines Kante has been our best player.

They play quick football and have a vital ingredient- confidence.

We are better than our position suggests & IF we beat Stoke there may be another revival

I think the proof is in the pudding. Since April 4th Leicester have won six more points than anyone in the PL, that's 22 games and at some point you have to accept that this is too big a sample size to be considered a fluke. Whilst it's probably not our level we are probably somewhere in between.

Most people judge other players on perception and your average Sunderland fan will look at Drinkwater and just see a player who was a failed Man Utd academy player rather than judging him with an open mind on his performances.

The secret to Leicester's success is that Mahrez and Vardy are two of the best players in the league. Also Drinkwater and Kante are one of the best central midfield pairing in the country as well. There is a bias to judge your own players better than other players who are just names to you and you wouldn't recognise them if they walked past you in the street. there's a reason why Leicester are your league leaders and you can't keep putting it down to luck when it's been over such a long time period.

You are on a fantastic run which I for one didn't think would continue into this season. I can't see how it's possible but I hope - bar one away game - that you keep it up.
