I'm with you, could never get the bugger's open and then they would explode all over me. Harder work than running trying to get a drink. Hate plastic cups as well. Maybe I have a drink problem :)
I don't, I love drinking!

I did a 4 hour hill run last good Friday without so much as a wine gum. Drinks are overrated.
Different people need different things. I sweat buckets and sizzle in heat so need to replace lost fluids. Got caught out big style in Edinburgh marathon last year.

I was winding you up. I find that I can go 2 hours without a drink but anything over that I wither as I sweat buckets as well. That 4 hour run was a massive mistake.

I got through 18 miles a month ago without a drink and could easily of went on, but during the gnr I think I drank twice as I was actually putting in the effort, I think its horse for courses, sometimes you need to sometimes you don't, mind @D.A sounds like he needs to drink a lot and reading the threads its not just water ha.

Disappointing race this morning at Thirsk 10 mile. 1:07:54. 2 minutes off my pb. Not done any tempo runs recently, so can't grumble too much. My knee felt fine which is good.

ive never done a 10miler so this got me thinking whats my best 10 miler, ie only ever raced once past 10 mile that was 2 years ago gnr, and my 1st 10 was 107.23, I assume im faster 2 years on, well I hope I am I definatly need to race more so I can keep on tracks as when I go out to do 10 miles on me todd there is no way I could keep that pace there is a definite need for some racing for me, im going to look now see if I can get something for the end of next month.

Just done the Park Run route in 29:40. Of all the times I've run it, I think this is the happiest I've been.
Exactly four weeks since I passed out in Central Station and ended up in hospital needing a blood transfusion. After that I struggled to walk a mile so this is a big step forward.
Perfect running conditions and I got to try out my shiny new Garmin watch.

Good news mate.
Make an aim to join a club, do it... Both strollers and harriers have beginners groups , I reckon you would not look back .
How you finding the watch ? Also , does it have a stopwatch on it - could your use it to time laps?

First time I've used it. You can configure the screen to have what you want on, lap time being one of them. You set the lap distance in the settings.
You can set a min and max pace as well and it vibrates if you deviate from it. Will probably be useful when I get used to it.

310xt or 910 sounds like it should be for you. That's if you're still swimming like. Has the full works.

Are you in a club? Where do you live?

Rarely swim at moment dan, may try get back into it after easter , was too busy trying to run again . Somebody told me the garmins didn't have a stopwatch function so that's why asked as I use that a fair bit.
Left foot is over your neck of the woods

I just use the lap button on my watch, but I can definitely stop and start it.

Brilliant news mate, always nice to try a new toy out aswell.

Seriously contemplating the sunderland half marathon in prep for Hamsterley 18 miler
would make sense, the sland half route is described as being flat and fast so could be a good confidence booster also ?

just entered Dans Pier 2 Pier race, bit pricey I thought but its for a good cause in supporting a local club.
Now want to target a 10k in april - either sand dancer or blyth, trying to work out what nights im out etc

Been getting the miles in training but not ran competitively since January. I am guessing a half marathon is the closest I will get to 18 mile Hamsterley race. Don't really want to get to July with only a 10k in race conditions under my belt. Ran 1 47 last year for sunderland half marathon. Reckon I could take a minute or two off that if training all goes to plan so fingers crossed I don't pick up a injury between now and then

Tried some 1k intervals tonight , wanted to do 6 but had to bail out after 5, felt sore and very tired, tempted to take a week out as Prob been trying to do too much too soon, classic signs

How many 1k intervals do you do mate in a session, and how often?

Definitely sign up.

ive been toying with the idea of a club for ages, but I just cannot guarantee I could make it at the times the strollers train and that sort of defeats the oject of being in the club, if I join I want to be ale to train as often as possible, im trying to push the other half to join and then if we can get one of the gran parents to watch the bairns I know I would make it, I did 13.1 yesterday nice and steady away in 143 which is a bit slower than usual but like I have said on previous posts I still feel a little off from my death cold, did 5.5 today just so the legs don't tighten up, 1 more over the weekend and then a day our 2 rest before I try to start following a plan again
