Someone should get a Ref poll going...

Personally I dislike Mariner and Mason over Friend. Don't mind when we're assigned Phil Dowd for some reason.

Surely if Sky gave a shit about the result they'd want us to win as it's mildly more interesting to neutrals?
Sky make their dosh from the likes of Chelsea and Man utd, etc and foreign viewing audiences, not Sunderland and armchair support in England, keeping the big boys on top is their cash cow.

Do we ever get assigned a referee that everyone is happy with?

Let's face it, not one of them gets every decision right (because its pretty much impossible). Every other club thinks the exact same about particular refs.

Swings and Roundabouts.

Exactly mate, although common sense and logic not allowed on ref threads

I agree in most cases mate but some refs are shocking and Kevin Friend is one of them. I have no idea how him, Andre Mariner and Lee Mason are PL refs

Might be because over their careers their overall performances have been good, after all they are in the top league in the country,so logic suggests must be pretty good to get promoted to the premier league.

Unless you can think of another reason why they have been promoted through the ranks to the top

No we don't. Funny enough neither do other teams. Weird eh?

I agree, they are all f***ing clueless. And I fully expect a biased refereeing display against us.

That must be why they have reached one of the best leagues in the world to ref in,your statement makes loads of sense.

You must be right the powers of be must want f***ing clueless people to ref in it.

Week in week out it is proved without a shadow of doubt that it is too hard for the human eye to get decisions right.

Phil Dowd is so unfit, his belly was huge yesterday mind haha. Hopefully Friend remembers what he did and 'will give us the run of the green'

They are shit, get used to it

Like I say to work their way up to the premier league through every league, would have meant they would have got good marks from managers, clubs, assessors etc.

So by very nature must be good.

Could not have managed that unless they were good, that's simple logic.

Unless you can come up with another reason?

You are wasting your time with these cock ends man

Would love to see the idiots try and do the job themselves

I think its fair to say we have had the rub of the green this year

This bloke is useless. I don't tend to remember referee's names, but this one sticks out for me. A quick google and this is why.

Nov 2009 v Spurs. Defoe stamps on Gordon's arm, completely unpunished and allowed Spurs to have a free shot at goal while Gordon was down in agony.

Feb 2010 - Sends off 2 Sunderland players v Pompey (Meyler deserved, Catts very harsh)

March 2011 - Awards Liverpool a pen for a foul a couple of yards outside the box. Then sends off Mensah which was later rescinded.

Nov 2011 - Awards an incredibly soft pen to Wigan for a Moses dive.

Nov 13 - Red card for Wes Brown for a perfectly timed tackle.

5 red cards, 3 penalties, a handful of last minute goals (Not Friend's fault but he's a bloody curse too)

Have I missed anything??

So two red cards later rescinded. Doesn't look good. Expect Catts to get at least a yellow as Friend seems to profile players.
