Too tired after work to train

Need to get myself sorted - but need a kickstart to get me going.

I've tried getting up early and jumping on the cross trainer, but I'm just too tired and nearly hoyed up at the thought of it, nevermind doing it.

When I get in from work these days, I seem to be just totally fucked - all I want to do is eat snacks and collapse on the couch (usually perk up about 2hours later, just in time to make/eat evening meal with the missus - and don't want to be using my gym after about 9pm as I'll never get to sleep etc).

So, any tips to get home from work in a state where I don't feel like shite and want to get on the bike, so to speak?
Open to mental, diet or chemical suggestions!

Use strong coffee or a pre- workout drink as soon as you finish graft

Seems it takes around 30 mins for caffiene to kick in. I don't have a decent coffee maker at work (nice one at home), so I'll experiement with the shitty espresso on the works machines / and-or having a dbl espresso as soon as I get in, then get changed into my gym gear.

Any other suggestions welcome.

Try and go before you get home, you'll probably find you aren't as tired as you think you are, although you probably also need something you enjoy rather than just going on a crosstrainer

It's just caffeine and creatine, essentially, but if the coffee is that much of an issue keep some pre-workout supplement at work and have that half an hour before you train.

And do something more exciting than using a cross trainer.

Dont go home first after work - take your gym gear to work with you and go straight to the gym and get changed there.
Have a strong coffee about 30 mins before leaving work.

I actually quite like the cross trainer. Bikes aren't good for me (get a numb cock, believe it or not) and I recently sold my rower as I don't have the space anymore.
Got a simple multigym though, so can do a few sets on that too.

Would I simply pro-plus an hour before I finish work do the same trick?

bike home from work, or take gear to work ,change and go straight to gym/run/rike ride/football etc

Back and knees are fucked (as well as a bad hip). So high impact stuff is out of the question (had to pack footy in and can't play my fav sport squash anymore)

I only live a 20 min walk from work, but I'm finding it very very difficult to get up in time to walk in - I'm one of those lazy bastards who turns up to work bang on time, having had to run around in the 30 minutes between getting out of bed and arriving at graft.

Basically, I can't sleep until I'm knackered - which means I go to bed late (or go to bed early, then lie awake far beyond what time I usually go to bed), and then I'm shattered on a morning.

Frankly, I'm a bit of a mess.

I always find getting to the gym the hardest part, realise it's the hardest part and conquer it, it's will power you need more of (easier said than done)

I use rocket fuel coffee on a morning, heaped spoonful, couple of sweeteners clicked in, then a drop of boiling water (30ml) make the coffee then top up with cold milk and down it in one.

I could do a double/triple espresso if it was just that. Coffee doesn't do an awful lot for me tbh.

Caffeine tablets?

There's a point where you just need to go and grind through the session though, despite feeling shitty and unmotivated

Yep, I don't deny that my willpower is f***ing horrific at the moment.

I've got a pack of pro plus - might give that a shot.

That should do the trick.

Caffeine doesn't work for me, sadly. My tolerance is sky high!

I rarely need any motivation to train at the moment though.

Do less work?

This. Once you're in the routine of going it's far easier and will also help with the sleep issues.

I think I need to build a habit. But I'm terrible at this part.

While I'm sat at my desk, I really want to. By the time I take my shoes off at work, I just want to sleep and all motivation is gone. Its a poor situation.

I've been in the same position for the last few weeks and just managed to start going again yesterday. Biggest hurdle for me is motivating myself to get into the car to drive to the gym, once I'm there then I can commit myself. It's only going to get harder for me when it gets dark earlier, I just need to find another motivation for myself to keep going.
