ZWINGS - Sunderland’s new scooters…

You've done nowt unless you've challenged a lamppost to a duel like @Dave Herbal
I think it may have been a picnic table. But seriously, you have to be a bit of a spaz to fall off one sober.
they are
Probably won’t use. Seem pointless.
They might be pointless if you live in some god forsaken former council estate, but they are the number 1 form of transport in the SR6 area. If you want to get to the pub in Roker or seaburn in a hurry.
Waste of time. You can’t use them if you are drunk so what’s the point.

I will use the car or walk but not risking the licence just to scoot along the beach after a few beers. And they are too slow. The scummers have the fast ones and they are really fast. Coppers could never catch them.
Course you can. Just don’t get stopped.

If you download the app there is only two locations available to choose from currently.

Gloucestershire and Yeovil.

Dinnar if I can be arsed walking there to zip back along the seafront.

On the plus side there are parking spaces near mine on this service which will be handier for me. I used to have to walk a canny way to the nearest allowed location for the Neurons. These I can get from pretty much opposite my house.

Will use. Its a 3/4 from Mux.

There'll be someone at Zwings head office wondering why nobody is using them yet 😄

Didn't know until a few months after it, defo got lucky like as any police passing would have 100% been able to tell like.
I never even considered it till my accident. Now i make sure to stay off the main roads wherever possible.

People have said that for years now marra.
Still not happened.
Until it does or even it does happen, people are breaking the law, and should face the consequences of using these on the public roads and footpaths.
The police don’t even bother turning up when shops are getting ransacked by shoplifters and people are driving off without paying for their fuel so I doubt electric scooters are high on their list of priorities.

Last Friday two idiots were riving down fawcett st, yes down from Lloyds bank got to Wetherspoons opposite the museum and bombed straight over up past the old civic centre.they are dicing with death!

I don’t want to lose my licence and I don’t want to be sober.

They are no good to me. They should come with an alcometer device you have to blow in to make them work.

I'll be honest, I got on it in a rush and didn't really pay any attention to how it worked etc.

Not realising it had speed settings I thought "Well this is a bit slow isn't it?" and I tried to use my foot to scoot myself along, they we're a bit higher off the ground than I thought

I sometimes arrive at the pub to find that there is an even number for taxis already, so I jump on a scooter rather than the kerfuffle of getting another taxi for 1, so i’m relatively sober. I definitely don’t recommend riding after a skin full though.

Is there a reason that there are no drop off / pick up points in the areas with the lowest % of car ownership ?

Seems to defeat the objective of creating more opportunities for people to travel about

You can dump them anywhere can’t you? It only costs an extra 50p or summat

we used to use the neuron ones all the time. could pick one up at the end of my street in grangetown and it cost about £4/5 to get to the beach, great fun

used to pick them up all the time if i walked to the bus stop and there wasn't one due. could get from the end of villette road to park lane in about 3 minutes, cost £2.. ideal for when heading to the town for a few pints.

used them all over the place, but i think near the end they changed the rules of where you could leave them, and there was only a few designated spots. at the start you could leave them anywhere. could go from home to the ivy house to the vaults and back and just park them outside

Given that all the taxi drivers appear to have packed in, I would always get a scooter to the pub.

I could do a trip that would cost £5-6 in a taxi for about £2.40

Wouldn’t use one after a drink mind.

Neuron we’re a pain as they kept changing the zones and then introducing the parking spots which would usually be about 100 yards from where you were going.
