Not one of my proudest moments but about 15 years ago I was scraped off the road by the local pompiers after falling off my vespa . They delivered me and my bike back home.
About an hour later the police called the house to ask of i was ok and if i’d been drinking.
My missus, bless her , said ‘ it certainly looks like it to me ‘

Probably belongs on the unpopular opinions thread but "cheese eating surrender monkeys" was originally a line from The Simpsons, an American cartoon, a nation for whom military victory has passed them by. Free French & others carried out acts of personal valour every day under the noses of Gestapo. I know we like to mock, but we really haven't got a leg to stand on. Surrendering when faced by overwhelming force is not cowardly, we did it at Singapore, probably a bit too quickly...
