Z390 motherboard advice

Doing a new build and want to keep costs as low as possible.

I want to go with the i5 9600k and overclock to 5ghz. However my monitor is DVI D and VGA and don't want to buy a new one yet.

I also won't be sticking a graphics card in yet. I'm was swaying toward the AS Rock z390 extreme 4 but it has mixed reviews.

Gigabyte boards seem to be best but they all only support HDMI.

Any advice?

May I enquire to the logic behind buying an unlocked processor and an overclocking board without a graphics card? Just pick up any old used card and that will sort it

Because a 2080 will eventually go in it but don't have money at minute.

Also don't fancy putting a used graphics card in a new build.

Buy a HDMI to VGA/dvi-d cable?

Ive read they can be a bit hit and miss or is that bull?

They work fine mate, used them for some time in the office now with older monitors, never had an issue. Can pick them up off Amazon for about £8 quid

I wanted to go Asus for the bios but apparently the VRMs are a bit meh for the price range of the gigabyte boards.

I have Asus, but I wouldn't buy again after finding out how shite their RMA process is with motherboards
