past, Ian Terrence Botham

present, roooot joseph and modern. Cannot split them

Early days - Gooch, Richards, Botham
Noughties - Flintoff, Warne, Hussain, McGrath, Ponting
Current - Stokes, Root, ABdV, Anderson

Boycott was my favourite cricketer in the 60s and 70s. Then I saw Viv Richards and Michael Holding - best batsman and best bowler ever in my opinion.

Right now the only one would be Moeen Ali.

Wasim Raja / Greenidge / Richards / Gower / Willis from my youth, perversely Chris Tavare as well, when we played in the street and there were no runs but how many balls you survived you had to study Tavare !

more recently Langer / Colly of course

and Kapil Dev because he was a really nice bloke when I was lucky enough to meet him

cricketwise aye but the fuck on with his retiring, coming back etc just put us off.

Daniel vettori modern day anarl think was a canny cricketer

Shout-out to Ramps, too. Brilliant batsman and a true gent.

Remember when I was about 13, bunking off school to go to a days play at the Oval. Think he got out for about 98, and as he walked up to the dressing room, I ran over and asked him to sign my scorecard. He let me come up with him and got all the Surrey boys in the dressing room to sign it for me, despite spitting feathers that he hadn't made a ton.
