I like the Geordie commentator on 5Live. Can’t remember his name. Used to share games with Alan Green and was infinitely better (not hard)
John Murray. Mike Ingham was probably the best on radio before he retired.

Barry Davies
Martin Tyler was mint until he was hyped up by sky. I’m talking early 90s.
Still think Bill Leslie or Brian Moore are both excellent. Just watched Moore commentating in the arsenal v Liverpool game from 89. RIP.
Yea I liked him as well mind!Barry Davies for me. Very knowledgeable and realised that you don't have to wibble on endlessly in a TV commentary.
he was brilliant. as was brian johnston[henry blofeld on the cricket.Bill McClaren, (rugby , I know) but he is my favourite commentator of all time
Gerald sinstadtJust watching some old games and it strikes me that the old commentators (in my humble opinion that is) where much better than some of the drivel spewed out by today’s Sky and other TV match commentators? Who was your favourite then?
Brian Moore? John Motson? David Coleman....There were a few so who was your favourite and why?
Brian Moore for me.
MurrayJohn someone.
Aye, I like him.Martin Tyler was mint until he was hyped up by sky. I’m talking early 90s.

I think that was Barry DaviesBrian Moore for me. Remember Maradona scoring in the Mexican world cup against England in 86 " Valdarno to his left He want need any of them, you have to say that's magnificent " Me and my father screaming at the tv absolutely devastated as he scored the second goal.
Coleman’s speciality was athletics. He’d been a decent middle distance runner as a youngster and knew the UK club athletics scene very well. Wolverhampton and Bilston president iircMoore, Davies and Coleman were all class acts.
Davies and Coleman could lend their commentary to other sports superbly as well.
Agreed he is excellent, if going off topic then I would also put Murray Walker forward, I can’t stand F1 but he is iconic as a commentatorBill McClaren, (rugby , I know) but he is my favourite commentator of all time
And Harry Carpenter for boxing. And Dan Maskell at Wimbledon, Peter O'Sullevan on horse racing. Forgot Bill McLaren on rugby union
Bang on the best 3 in my opinion.Moore, Davies and Coleman were all class acts.
Davies and Coleman could lend their commentary to other sports superbly as well.
I might be wrong, but I'm sure he used to say "Here we all are at" then mention whatever ground they were at before every match.Hugh Johns
