Your barcelona excuses

It's funny how there are to many Barca "supporters" but never many supporters of lower league teams from foreign leagues.

It's a little bit embarrassing calling yourself a fan of a team you have no attachment to at all bar watching them on tele and saying "Hmm when I go on holiday I'll go and watch them play". Put your replica shirt back in the wardrobe ya glory hunters.

This isn't aimed at people who admit they are "fans" and not "supporters" by the way, at least your honest with yourselves.

Hoy them in here.
If I was a Barca fan/official/player I'd not be despondent with a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal.
What with the away goals rule, the Nou camp atmosphere, the absolute quality and experience of the barca side, it's hardly game over unless you're of the kneejerking persuasion ...ooh.

From Carterbar
His money and support is as good as yours.

Got their away goal? 4-1 I'll go for in Barca, job done. Was quite impressed by Arsenal like, is good to see a 'grand master' side get a passing lesson and still come back. Fair play.

On their day, barca play lovely football, very easy on the eye.
It's good for the game when teams win things playing such football.
never liked Real due to their Franco affiliations.

I'm a massive fan of Barca, really I am. By that I mean I don't switch to 'Casualty' come 8:30 ish on a Saturday and will even sacrifice 'the antiques road show' on Sundays if needs be:)

I wish I saw this thread earlier I have really strobg views on this very subject and agree with every lad who has said how can ya support a team when ya have no background, no ancestry, not from there etc. Its up there with the more than a club bollocks, be man enough to admit it you "support" Barca because youre a glory boy!

I like Barcelona. I went there, looked around the Nou Camp, and took a liking to them. I like FC St. Pauli. I read about them somewhere, met some canny supporters of theirs, and took a liking to them - I have a shirt with the skull and crossbones somewhere.

One day I'll go and watch both.

However, I don't keep up with how they are doing, because I am too busy supporting Sunderland.

im missing the fulham home game cos im going to go watch the barca v espanyol game. what does that make me?

The game they play can result in them being blown away in a few minutes, especially away from home. It happened to Arsenal at SJP.

Barca are brilliant but they only play one way. They'll win most games, but occasionally they will come undone playing like that.

Be interesting to see how they would coup playing in this league week in week out. There almost in second gear in there league at times, how would they coup with a tuesday night away match to stoke with a ref that allows wwe in the box. There the best footballing side in the world atm but the wanking over them is way ott, they can be beat and arsenal last night proved it. I watched them the other night and that hercules side pushed them down the middle alot and kept it tight as fuck and barca didnt like it one bit.

It's great the way the "glory boys" conveniently ignore the fact that Arsenal actually won last night.

In the scheme of things (and as Sunderland supporters we should know this as well as anyone) you can play as well as you like, but results are what matters.

Who are these glory boys? Did anyone on here really give a fuck who won? I know I didn't.

Barcelona are consistently poor (results wise) in Europe under Pep. They dominated the game for around 2/3, as shown by the number of passes completed and superiority of possession.

I think the big turning point was the withdrawal of Villa. Pep should have taken off Pedro, who was having as poor a game as Walcott was for Arsenal. Changed the game.

Overall, Barca are still 'in front' imo, as they are imperious at home, and the away goal is absolutely vital.
