Thought so and that's why I mentioned it ;) I've been to plenty of matches over the last 30 odd years and been a season ticket holder for a few of them but I rarely go now as Southampton was my last game. I've also watched a fair few of them when I get back home (more so in recent years thanks to the likes of Sky, PremierLeaguePass, NBC or dodgy full match websites). Even though I've got great eyesight and can follow play or the players quite well, can you believe that I sometimes see things I missed or got completely wrong at the match. It's impossible to watch all players over the 90 minutes but being able to do it on TV and focus on who is where (even if they change angles or disappear from view briefly) then it sometimes changes my impression of the game to when I was there watching at the SOL.
I was only jesting mate when I said I wasn't there so don't take owt serious as we are both SAFC fans at the end of the day!
Going to the match is certainly worthy of getting respect but as to it meaning that a match attending fan's opinion is always correct or holds a higher value than someone watching on TV (especially if going back and reviewing it in more detail) isn't something I'd agree with ;)

Just go to the f***ing match man.

I would but the main reason I don't go is the obscene money they now get paid, yet the lack of effort from some players winds me reet up and frustrates the fuck out of me and affects my mood more and longer than watching on TV. It isn't just this season though as it's been quite a few seasons now and each year I don't miss going to the match and even though cost isn't an issue, I turn down free tickets anarl. Still doesn't mean I can't comment on what I see on TV and like I said, I see a lot more overall like today as I can rewind and watch certain bits of play again and focus on various players a little more closely. If I went I'd still same the majority of the same shite anyway

Ok mate - I'm only kidding ;)

True enough. It was a good ball that.

I hadn't realised it was Cattermoles defence spitting pass for Yedlin. Great pass too.
I hadn't realised its was Cattermoles pass that put Defoe through where his shot was blocked. Great pass too.
I hadn't realised it was Cattermoles pass (Ok mishit shot :)) That gave Defoe another chance.
I had realised that Cattermole was too slow & should have done better when thru on goal in the first half

Desperately need to sign him permanently though, we've all seen what he can do. Its his first season lest we forget.

Can we also remember the last midfielder we had on loan who was quality and just because his form dipped off a little (heart of a pea I heard) he was slated and not wanted, which we have regretted since.

We haven't though, he has been no more than steady.

I like him as a character but he is easily replaceable, Kirchoff is miles better.

He was brilliant up until January, it'd be moronic to write him off because of recent form.

Him and Kirchoff if we were to stay up would be the best midfield pairing we've had in years.

The same sort of stats that folk used to roll out to argue Colback was our best midfielder.
If Colback had put in a performance like Catts today there would have been at least 10 threads slagging him off .
Cattermole is clearly not suited to the role of advanced creative midfielder . Most of the game when he received the ball our moves either broke down or slowed down . He is good at what he does but ball control and incisive running and passing are not his forte.
Not his fault we did get a better player for his position , I guess Rodwell is the best attempt made and I thought against the Mags he was slowly coming to it. Unless he was injured I would have kept faith with him today at least for the first half.

Him Catts and Kirchoff all play in the same position; it's the lack of box to box quality and playmakers that will send us down. Shoehorning players into unnatural positions is our trademark. The big problem is the alternative is playing Rodwell and Larsson who just aren't good enough:

I dont know how anyone could think signing him permanently wouldnt be a brilliant signing.

I'd sign him 100%, but he hasn't been playing well, and I wouldn't have played him in the west brom game

Compared to some of the mediocre we have seen over the years he is step up. That said offers Allerydyce is playing Cattermole in a more advanced role which says all you need to know about Mvilla as an attacking threat
I don't think that's fair. Allerdyce has put a lot of defensive responsibility on M'Vila, he spends most of the game covering for PVA. I don't think he trusts Catts to be as disciplined.

Some people have short memories. the man is a very good player - bringing Kirchoff in has reduced his workload and taken the shine off him a tad, but I'd sign the man in a heartbeat so quit moaning ya fannies !:lol:
This. Quite alarming how many on here haven't got a clue about the game of football.

He's a good player, occasionally better than that and occasionally worse*

*imo he has been worse since christmas. Don;t hate me
You mean he has become less noticeable since the addition of Kirchoff in the team and he isn't doing the job of 2 people now?

In my opinion he has took his foot off the gas second half of the season and his performances have been average and occasionally poor. Wonder why?

Well his role in the side has changed. Before he was dropping deep and being allowed to pick the ball up off the defence and play it about. Now he is further up the field in a position that asks different questions. A position were you do not get half as much freedom on the ball.

No I mean he isn't playing as well. I also think thats making excuses for him.

The lad is a good player who isn't playing as well as he was. His poor(ish) form, imo, started before Kirchhoff was signed.

Can you explain what you mean by poorish [sic] form? What was he doing that he isn't doing now and vice versa?
